Tatsshian Empire
You had your time, while we were slaughtered in the Storm. Now it is our turn.
The Tatsshian Empire, isolated for millennia after The Great Storm has risen as the undisputed power of the Eastern Continent. Unlike their counterparts on the Central Continent, such as the Elemental Enclaves that strive for elemental balance, or the Siorain Empire, for the continued assurances of resources, the Tatsshian people have embraced a philosophy of domination over nature, determined to gain power at any cost. Their "Us vs. Them" mentality has been deeply ingrained, a legacy of 12,000 years of solitary development.
Structure
Structure
Survival after the Storm required a very strict organizational and pragmatic approach to resources, from water to food to people themselves. Thus everything in the Empire is under the authority of the Empire.
The Emperor
The current Emperor, much like her forefathers, rules Tatsshi with an iron fist, with his word being law in all cases.
Governors
Various governors serve under the Emperor and help keep the vast empire, with its initial territory of 500,000 square miles, and its two vassal states, under firm control.
Culture
Pragmatic Survival
Their fight for survival as the Age of Restoration began has given them a pragmatic approach to nearly everything. This includes shaping and manipulating the environment to the Empire's benefit, or utilizing magical creatures or even beings from other nations as forced labor.
Us vs. Them
Their isolation has led them to prioritize themselves above others, often viewing them as subhuman or disposable.
Meritocratic yet Rigid Social Hierarchy
Loyalty to the Empire and one's capability are paramount. There is room to move up within a government organiation or in the military, but the upper levels are extremely hierarchy with strict protocols and expectations
History
The Age of the Storm
The Eastern Continent was hit hard by the Fallen during the 8th and 9th centuries of the war. The previous civilizations were torn down by the armies of Orcs, Onis, and Trolls as they tore through the landmass. The magic of the Fallen created a vast and dangerous storm that made reinforcements from the Central Continent impossible, separating them from the other powers fighting the Fallen. As a result, the first Emperor, Tesuo Tatsshia, rose to power over the remaining humans and rallied them under his banner to stand against the Dark Forces.
In the wake of the conflict, the Fallen's armies fled to the Storm Lands in the far north, allowing the new Tatsshi Empire to begin establishing itself in the South.
Age of Restoration
Over the next 11,000 years, the Tatsshian Empire expanded significantly, becoming the dominant power on the Eastern Continent of Eldux, with none of the surviving civilizations able to challenge it. It was not until 6,000 years after the Great Storm that the barriers between the two continents finally waned, causing the Empire to develop separately from the rest of the civilizations.
Military
The Empire boasts a military of 300,000 troops, including conscripts and forced participants.
Technological Level
Elemental Weapons of War - Unique to this Empire, they have crafted a way to force an elemental to empower weapons, siege engines, and other items to enhance the military capabilities of their troops. This process kills the elemental, which is highly frowned upon by other civilizations and is held as a cardinal sin by many Elves.
Agriculture & Industry
Vast Agricultural Plantations - Much of the landscape has been kept cleared by the Empire and used for farming.
Extensive Mining Operations - Driven by a need for materials for their infrastructure and military, there are hundreds of mining operations throughout the Empire staffed by either highly disciplined workforces or forced labor.
Most of their trade is centered around acquiring more magical relics, which are not common in their territory, or the acquisition of Mithril , Orichalcum, or if possible Elven Steel
