Solara
What have following the Eldrin gained our ancestors besides misery and needless death. I fully intend to die a fat old man surrounded by mistresses.
Solara, located on the southern peninsula, is infamous across the central continent for its hedonistic lifestyle that is dominant among the upper classes. This is facilitated by the enslavement of roughly 60% of their population, who work to provide for the upper class.
Structure
The Sun King
The Sun King is the ultimate authority in modern Solara. Named in mockery of the Sun, the traditional symbol of Kellener, whom their ancestors used to worship, the Sun King is often a living personification of the Orichols' pursuit of pleasure and personal liberty, though a freedom that is denied to many of his citizens. His court is a constant spectacle of lavish parties, intricate political maneuvering, and displays of wealth. Succession is typically hereditary, leading to a lineage of rulers often more concerned with their own enjoyment than the welfare of their subjects.
The Wealthy Families
Making up 5% of the population, they are the true power brokers of society, having control of vast amounts of land, trade, and industry. They are the main beneficiaries of the slave class beneath them, which is how much of their wealth is gained. Their lives are often full of luxuries and new pleasures that they seek out.
The Upper Class
They are the merchants, the skilled artisans, the entertainers, the administrators, and the military officers. They are wealthy enough to play in the political games and enjoy the hedonistic lifestyles, but are under the heel of the Sun King and the rich families. They range from comfortable to being on the edge of the lower class, and thus their liberty is conditional on the value they bring to a particularly upper-class family.
The Slave Class
60% of their population is currently enslaved. This includes those born into this class, or children sold into slavery by their parents so that the rest of the family could remain in the Upper class. They are forcibly put to work on the plantations, various mines (including the prosperous Orichalcum mines owned by the King.
