The first book in the Astnyr trilogy is as follows: World: Might do some css coding (if I'm able to learn), Manuscript: Reading First Draft/Preparing for Second Draft

First Summer Camp 2024

Summer Camp is a time when world builders and authors come together to share their masterpieces to the world in a one time year event. At least, that's what I've been told by others in the World Anvil discord. You see, I began world-building for my book on December 2023. This will be my first Summer Camp, and I'm not sure what to expect. However, I am going to do my best to be a good world builder. Along with promoting my brand, and maybe even a new world reveal.

Change

You may have heard of some of my articles in the past about a world called Notta. It used to be Nightrise before I changed the name, but it is still the same world that went through multiple changes through its lifespan. I have been waiting for the perfect time to release Notta to the public, and Summer Camp is the time. Notta has gone through slavery, war, and apocalypses. With most of the Angels missing or dead, there is one goddess that rules over all with strife and discord. Once, people knew her as Skoon, the goddess of sky and moon. Now, she is Stricord, the tyrant of Notta. I present to you the present map of Notta that will be the main cover of the world.

This will be a separate world from Eldabrand and will be on my author profile.

Setting Goals

DONE This summer I will be rather busy getting ready to move to Ireland this fall for school. As well as editing and re-posting articles of Astnyr and working on my first book. I want to have some downtime to play video games and D&D. With these in mind, I am going to shoot for the silver badge, but hope to make the gold badge. I know I can do it if I work hard enough, but I am working for myself instead of an employer for once. Despite not having a job currently, the last 6-7 months have been the best of my life. I plan to keep it this way for as long as I can. I am lucky to have so much time on my hands, but I realize others do not. However, your world-building is just as important as mine is. I hope you complete your goals as I do mine.   Anyway, give me that pledge, damn it.

Categories and Tags

DONE While I have my main tags ready to go on Eldabrand, I still have to determine some for Notta. I'm thinking the tags will be Post-apocalypse, High Fantasy, Fantasy, maybe Dark Fantasy, and Adult 18+, Writing, and Novel. I'll have to add sc24 to certain articles because of the challenge, but it is doable. For Eldabrand, the tags are High Fantasy, Fantasy, Adult 18+, Writing, Novel, and article specific tags.

Meta

DONE I have not looked at my meta since I created it last year.......I think it needs to be redone. Once Notta is released, it should have a meta as well. I admit, I am not good at planning ahead or motivational words for myself and others. Yes, I write ideas down to use in an article or book, but that's about all I got. Even though some ideas, such as the Great Wall of Ironhammer, were inspired by Norse mythology, I still have some more research to do. I might need motivation in my meta to do that aspect of my creative process.   Anyway, I wish you all a fantastic Summer Camp this year. Show me the ropes please because I rarely know what I'm doing half the time. I blame my autism for that one.

Refuge

There are a few places in mind that I have thought about. There is somewhere on Notta that shields people from Stricord's curse or from hostile individuals. This city is called Runic Towers, where the Fire and Earth Naga call home. It has sheltered the main character of Lunarius's Chosen and others. Some Water and Wind Naga managed to flee to the towers once Shamlac Isles became desolate.   The second refuge is called Savior's Enclave. This safe haven shelters those that were affected by the second invasion in Magick Glades. The Archdruid, Eldric, rules over the enclave while Nave is missing. He promised the people that they will be safe and able to rebuild their once grand city. Will the promise be fulfilled, who knows?   The third refuge is a place in Astnyr dedicated to those that have fallen in Notta when Stricord first betrayed the gods. They named it after the lost planet, Notta. Knowler himself goes there to settle his own grievances, after losing his brother, Lunar, on said planet. Beight and Nave worked together to create this for Knowler, and once a year, Notta is mourned by the people of Astnyr.

Accountability Buddy

DONE This one is going to be a bit harder for me. I've never been very social with people, but I'm taking baby steps to try to be. I've followed the WA discord, along with some other opportunities I have signed up for. I don't know who would consider me a close companion or a good accountability buddy. I can only hope I can complete this assignment.   It is very unofficial, but when I tell a discord friend of mine what I have completed, she does a huge celebration. Met her on a WoW private server and we hit it off pretty well. She is a cool friend to have, and motivational to boot.

Styling

DONE As people have seen, I am editing all of my articles and making a format that works for me. So far, it has been slow going, but I think I'm getting the hang of things. I make sure I have the pictures I need before I submit an article, and it looks exactly how I want it. I might improve it more in the future, but for now it works for me.

CSS

DONE My mortal enemy, CSS. Again, I have worked on improving this a little bit. But there is still so much more to learn. Right now, I am focusing on format code. With headers, subheaders, and pictures in the place and size I want it.

Belief

Okay, here is the thing. My world doesn't exactly have religion in it, but it has a belief system with each ruler/god in Astnyr/Notta. The Old Gods are another entity and are more cultish than base religion. That being said, the belief system my world employs comes from Angels and Demons from Aeftir, the afterlife. This is another world that will be presented in the future on WorldAnvil, but I am holding off until I have more inspiration from it.   These beliefs center around the Angels/Demons that rule regions. Angels set down on Astnyr/Notta and Demons touch down on Celmani. I am not sure what the other two regions will have, but I'm thinking it will still be very mortal driven if that makes sense.

Inspirations

DONE I have found much inspiration since quitting my overnight job. A writing playlist was created on Spotify. There is one song that goes with the god of madness very well, which is Davy Jones from Pirates of the Carribean. Some songs are love-based, which fits my sub-genre very well with romance. Not to mention all the research on mythology and civilizations I've been doing.   BG3 was a lasting inspiration, even now. I still think about the writing in that game that made it so well-received. The characters are three-dimensional with their own quirks, the settings were shown with each act, and the choices I made as a player had real consequences.   Now, if I were to have a voice actor for Lunarius, I would choose Liam O'Brien with his Vax'ildan voice.

Images and Maps

DONE To be fair, I make my own images and maps with Heroforge and Inkarnate. They were suggested by fellow world-builders and I have not strayed from it since. In fact, I've improved with character design especially.

Review Inspirations

DONE I've been working on Eldabrand and Astnyr since December last year. I feel like I've been updating rather well with my articles with new ideas and inspiration. It will be a while until I have to re-visit anything for now, but work on the updates I need to now.

Decay

Welp, all of these prompts fit Notta to a T! This also fits one of the big bad villains of Lunarius's Chosen, wooooooooo. I'm going to have fun next month and no one can stop me! Anyway, um....time for the last assignment now.   Decay is common in any world, even the real one. It happens every day whether we see it or not. Notta is such an example, with a distopia, intervening revolution, and most of the world being a decaying scar of sorts. Stricord's Scar decays the land and spreads each year. At this point, the scar has taken most of the land, but cities and villages still stand, even in ruins.   Morana, the Lady of Death, is another example of decay with her death magic. She and her necromancers bring death and decay to Astnyr, threatening the gods will on the land. Her journey of mourning is more tragic than others, her magic bringing an example of what happens when they celebrate the sealment of her brother, Lunarius.

Optimize Your Environment

DONE I had the perfect environment for the past week, but I'm not there anymore. My family cottage has the best creative aura and I don't know why. Maybe it's the sight, smell, and sounds of the ocean literally on the front lawn. Also not too many troubles in that cottage unless a family member I can't stand comes over. Now, I'm back home on my usual desk in my bedroom. However, there are things that I like about it.   I have my creative stones on my desk, books to research from, books to just read for the hell of it, Foxes and cardinals on my desk, my spotify to write with, and the usual messiness. I also try to go to the library every week to get a new environment once a week. It's nice and quiet and I can just create however I please. Though there are those angry old people that object, but the librarian has my back. I live with my parents who work, so I have most of the day to myself most of the time. I do try to remind them my writing and streaming is basically my job, and they respect that.

Review Your Homepage

DONE Eldabrand is still pretty new compared to others, and Notta is going to be released July 1, 2024. All I need to do at this point is finish Notta's homepage to be ready for release this week.

Intro and Author Page

DONE I admit that my author page needs some update. I've already changed my profile picture to my actual appearance instead of Eldrinor. My appearance will change more through the coming months with medical stuff and being more active. I might change my intro to reflect more of myself onto it. I am excited for school in Ireland this fall, but I don't want it to be my whole personality.

I hope you enjoy your first Summer Camp and that it helps you build out your world for your book. It sounds like there's a lot going on in Notta and I have no doubt you'll find a lot to write about! :)

So many worlds to choose from...

Thank you! I had this world in mind for a while. I just didn't know when to do it. Summer Camp is certainly turning out to be a good opportunity.
