Wasneh
Wasneh is a city on a knife’s edge, a sentinel of the empire perched above the mighty Khalir River, which divides Vaaskyr from Imenia. To most Vaaskyri, it is a bulwark of pride and vigilance. It is the first line of defense, and the last place peace is weighed before war.
The city is defined by its tension. Markets bustle with traders from both nations, but watchtowers loom above them. Formal embassies stand across from hardened barracks. For decades, Wasneh has walked the thin line between diplomacy and hostility. Though officially at peace, the border is alive with rumors, patrols, and veiled threats.

Government
Wasneh is governed by a Warden-Commander, appointed by the Emperor and given full civil and martial authority. This dual role ensures swift action in both diplomacy and defense. The Warden reports directly to Naazil the Great, and their decisions often shape border policy for the entire region.
A Border Tribunal of three advisors - one military, one civic, and one religious - offers counsel, but holds no official veto power. Decisions are swift, and justice is strict, particularly concerning cross-border smuggling or espionage.

Architecture
Wasneh straddles the southern cliffs of the Khalir, with commanding views of the slow-moving but wide river. A single fortified bridge connects to the Imenian side, watched over by dual checkpoints and a rotating guard presence.
The city is built in tiers, with the River Gate District at the base, housing merchants, border officials, and ferryworkers. The mid-tier High Walls district: military barracks, courts, and holding cells for border violations. At the summit, the Skyhold, Wasneh’s command bastion, lined with brass spires and banners of the Vaaskyr sun.
Stonework is angular, high-walled, and pragmatic, with desert flourishes like red canopy awnings and bronze-etched banners.
