Rhel Searender
Rhel Searender was born into the coastal clans of Ilkog on the Southern Island. In his youth, he earned a name for himself as a sailor, fighting off coastal raiders and eventually setting off for himself toward Wescovia, where he became a renowned mercenary and quickly made a name for himself, catching the eye of the royal family. A friendship soon blossomed with King Sigurdson, who gave him a commission in the Wescovian Navy. His prowess on the battlefield was matched only by his tactical mind and his refusal to bend to politics—he spoke his mind, regardless of rank.
During a particularly bloody siege on Wescovia's western coast nearly ten years ago by the Black Fleet, Rhel led a daring counter-offensive that turned the tide, giving him the honorific Searender. Eventually, Rhel retired from the Wescovian Navy as a commodore. King Sigurdson sought him out for a role in the admiralty during a period of reorganization, but Rhel turned him down, weary of war. Instead, the king appointed him Lord Mayor of Port Hebney, a growing trade hub with strategic value along the eastern coast of Wescovia.
Since then, Rhel has ruled with a firm but respected hand. He tolerates no corruption, ensures fair treatment for merchants and sailors alike, and keeps the peace through strength of presence and reputation.
