Rea Thalor

Where Tanarius is the beating heart of the empire, Rea Thalor is its voice. Cradled between lush, pine-draped ridges and veiled in mist, this city serves as the diplomatic and philosophical capital of the Tanarian Empire. Its high halls echo not with war chants, but with philosophy, prophecy, and negotiation. It is the easiest city for outsiders to the Empire to visit, as it is home to many embassies and other outward-facing institutions.
Rea Thalor is revered across Elaxios for its singers of fate, philosopher-oracles, and its ancient, deliberate tradition of deliberative peace. Here, treaties are carved not in stone, but in living bark, and every embassy, no matter how hostile, must be welcomed in ritual hospitality.

Defences

Rea Thalor is not a militarized city in the conventional sense, but it is far from undefended.
The Veilguard, composed of elite blade-singers and illusionists, protects the city through subtlety and preemptive intervention. The cliffs themselves are warded with sirenroots, plants that scream warnings and confuse intruders. The Chorus of the Wyrm, a unit of battle-chanters, trains beneath the Spire of Songs to harmonize spell and steel in tandem.

Industry & Trade

Rea Thalor deals in rare intellectual and artistic goods, including enchanted Instruments and living symphonies (musical compositions that respond to mood), Oracular scripts - poetic fragments transcribed by the Hollow Eye, fine jewelry carved from mountain opals and set with natural crystal chimes.
It also produces legal scholars, contract-weavers, and diplomats trained in subtle arcane etiquette.

Architecture

Rea Thalor is a terraced city, built into forested cliffs and natural amphitheaters carved by wind and time. Buildings are composed of pale, almost luminous stone, laced with ivy and lit by magical lantern-vines.
The Spire of Songs, at the city’s peak, serves as a vast concert-temple where politics and music intertwine. Debates are sung, and oracles chant prophecy between syllables of law. The Chamber of Accord, nestled into the cliffside, houses delegations from allied (and rival) nations. It is a neutral ground for diplomacy. The Hollow Eye, a temple-cave beneath the city, is home to blind oracles who speak truths in riddles, believed to receive dreams from the Feywild and the Shadowfell.
