Klosterdorf
Klosterdorf is less city and more sacred compound, a cluster of spires and cloisters rising out of rolling farmland and wildflower meadows. The city exists solely to serve the spiritual and martial training of Lathander’s faithful. It is the cradle of Aethel’s clergy and the crucible from which its most devout and dangerous clerics emerge. Despite its modest size, Klosterdorf holds enormous sway over Aethel's religious and political life.
Life in Klosterdorf is defined by discipline, ritual, and humility. Sunrise prayers mark the start of every day, and bell chimes dictate the rhythm of life. Instructors are both priests and philosophers, and public debate on sacred texts is encouraged, so long as it adheres to doctrinal boundaries.
There’s a quiet rivalry between scholars of the Dawn Unveiled and the Ember Wing, though both agree on their mission: to serve the light of Lathander, whether through the pen or the sword.

Government
Klosterdorf is overseen by the High Priorate, the highest ranking church official in Aethel other the the Sovereign. While technically answerable to the Sovereign in Mecklenberg, the High Priorate wields immense religious authority and is often consulted on matters of succession, doctrine, and national crises.
The Monastic Guard, an elite internal force of armored clergy and devout warriors, keeps peace within and around the monasteries. They answer directly to the High Priorate and are sworn to lifelong silence once inducted.

Districts
The city has several distinct districts:
High Cloister: The central compound housing the Monastery of the Dawn Unveiled, where Aethel’s most senior and scholarly clerics study theology, prophecy, and the ever-unfolding doctrine of divine light.
The Ember Wing: A separate, heavily fortified monastery known only to a few, this is where battle-clerics are trained in divine warfare, healing under duress, and the destruction of heretical or supernatural threats. Outsiders rarely even know of its existence.
The Commons: The civilian support town surrounding the cloisters, filled with artisans, scribes, stonemasons, and the families who serve the monasteries’ needs.
Pilgrim’s Reach: A public-facing district with guest halls, small shrines, and a massive open-air amphitheater for sermons and seasonal festivals.
