Genhout
Genhout is the beating heart of Aethel’s northern logging industry. Towering trees stretch for miles beyond the city, forming one of the kingdom’s most valuable natural resources. Here, axes swing from dawn to dusk, and the scent of pine and fresh sap lingers perpetually in the air. Genhout's economy and culture are inextricably tied to both the forest's bounty and its dangers. While vital to the nation, Genhout is also vulnerable, at least a two-day's march from the nearest garrison.
Residents of Genhout are a hardy, practical people who respect both the labor of their work and the mysteries of the forest. Many leave small offerings at forest shrines to appease the woodland spirits—some even whisper of dryads or older, unnamed presences watching from deep glades. The faith of Lathander is practiced here but often adapted with local superstitions and seasonal rites.

Government
The city and its surrounding region is overseen by Pralat Thalos Briggs, who also serves as head of the Logwarden's Guild. A veteran of both forest work and border skirmishes, they're respected for their fairness and feared for their temper.
Defences
Wooden structures dominate, often reinforced with iron bands and stone foundations for fire safety. Thick wooden palisades guard the town, a precaution against beasts and bandits drawn to the lucrative timber trade.
The Riverwatch Garrison forms a fortified barracks that houses a small permanent force of Aethel infantry and a naval detachment, trained for forest and river skirmishes.

Industry & Trade
Genhout’s wealth comes from trees, and everything made from their wood. Lumber from Genhout fuels the construction, shipbuilding, and other industries of Aethel, especially in cities like Mecklenberg and Enselt. River barges loaded with cut timber float downstream daily. Secondary trades like charcoal-making, woodworking, and carpentry also flourish here, along with smaller industries like paper mills and bookbinders.
The town trades regularly with frontier settlements and sends excess food, tools, and coin to encourage nearby outposts to remain loyal to the sovereign.
