Din
Din is the gateway that is never fully open. Unlike the hidden heart-cities of the Tanarian Empire, Din is an open port city, a beacon of restrained presence and subtle warning. It is a city built to be seen—at least partially. Foreign dignitaries from Aethel and Ironhold pass through its outer precincts, unaware that the city's inner sanctum spirals deeper into magically cloaked forest halls and illusion-veiled spires. It receives and sends goods from the ocean trade, making it an easily-accessible city, even if actually traversing the city is not as easy. Din is both a sentinel and a trapdoor; welcoming, diplomatic, and utterly inscrutable.

Din’s strength is not in numbers but in preparation. Enchanted barricades, illusionary forests, and arcane war-beasts trained in concealment line the city’s outskirts.
A force of around 800 elite spellblades and arcane archers garrison the city, many of whom train specifically in ambush and misdirection warfare. They operate under the command of Warden Aserel Vaelin, a stoic elf renowned for her defensive battle strategies and mastery of illusion magic.

Architecture
Din is arranged in concentric rings, like a massive tree. The Outer Ring, visible to non-citizens, resembles a modest walled settlement, though even this is crafted with unnerving precision, with slender towers, arched bridges of glassy stone, and glimmering wards etched into the walls. The Veiled Ring, accessible only to Tanarians and trusted allies, contains the true city, said to be comprised of silver-rooted tree dwellings, arcane greenhouses, and libraries of living parchment.
A river curves around the city’s eastern edge, its waters enchanted to deter magical scrying. The city’s roads are embedded with elven glyphs that subtly guide those unfamiliar with their true meanings, preventing unwanted access to protected spaces.
