Aurilon
Aurilon stands as the iron gate of Aethel's southeastern frontier. It is a heavily fortified city perched on the edge of the tense borderlands with Imenia. It is the country’s largest training grounds for enlisted soldiers and a critical muster point for the realm’s standing army. The streets are filled with the rhythmic clang of sword drills, shouted commands, and the solemn marches of military formations. Yet, beneath the regimentation lies a city that is both proud and burdened, constantly aware that it may be the first to burn should war erupt.
Aurilon’s culture is steeped in honor, discipline, and loyalty. Religious life here centers on Lathander, particularly his aspects of rebirth and resolve. Many soldiers begin their days with sunrise prayers at the Temple of the Shielding Light, seeking strength and clarity.

Government
The city is run by Ysara Corwin, the general who oversees the military force here. She is also a Pralat in the national Church of Lathander, giving her not just military authority over the troops in the city, but political authority over its citizens as well. She rules the city with an iron fist, and is well-known for her fierce loyalty to the sovereign and absolute intolerance of corruption.
Industry & Trade
Aurilon’s economy is fueled almost entirely by the military machine. Blacksmiths, armorers, stablemasters, and supply chain workers keep the city running. While not rich in natural resources, it thrives on state funds and trade with nearby Karlstadt and Newgil for lumber and food.
Points of interest
Architecture
Built in concentric rings, Aurilon’s design emphasizes defense and organization. The outermost ring houses the barracks, training grounds, and smithies. The middle ring contains the civilian quarter, containing homes, shops, and mess halls serving soldiers and their families. At the center lies the Bastion of Dawn, a massive stone citadel with golden inlays, which houses the command center, war college, and the Banner Hall, a vaulted chamber honoring fallen soldiers of Aethel.
