WorldEmber 2025 Homework
10,000 Words pledged!
- Plan your worldbuilding playlist
- I still use iTunes (yes, I'm that old), but I have a list of music I've been collecting since 1987 that will play for approixmately 10 days without repeat.
- More specifically, I've copied some of those tracks into a separate folder specifically for this challenge...but it isn't 10+ days long, so I may need to venture out!
- Make a list of the articles you want to write
- I've long been considering beefing up the aquatic area of my campaign due to my interest and player curiosity. I may go so far as to begin a third, aquatic campaign. So, the articles will all revolve or connect to this idea.
- The Godslost Sea is the body of water in question. I will need articles on
- Flora/Fauna
- Communities/Civilizations
- Customs
- Religions
- Political Structures
- Relations with the suuface nations (there are currently five - three coastal and two island nations)
- Plan your writing schedule
- I've cleared away at least one hour each day after work and house chores are complete each day of the week except Wednesday as that day is too full to make space.
- What kind of people can you find in your worldbuilding area?
- This could also be included in the list of articles, but I'll need to out the communities and civilizations below the surface of the Godslost Sea
- Leaning more toward protagonists that have full blown civilizations, I am currently thinking
- Locathah
- Triton
- Merfolk
- Aquatic Elves
- Tortles
- with other species also coexisting just not with an entire civilization (like Water Genasi, for example)
- Leading more foward antogonists, I'm considering
- Ixitzachitl
- Sahuagin
- again with other creatures in the mix (Vampire don't like sunlight and don't breath...if they go deep enough...)
- I've bookmarked several articles about aquatic life, both flora and fauna. I've set them aside and read a few. Rabbit hole, for sure! However, given that my fantasy world needs to have an anchor in the real world (for my taste), the research into real world aquatic life will help tremendously.
