Kingdom of Keoland
Keoland is the oldest human kingdom in the region, tracing back its ancestry over a thousand years. The Kings of Keoland have historically been ambitious, but it is only in recent years under the reign of the relatively modest King Skotti that they have succeeded in unifying most of the Sheldomar Valley, stopping only at the borders of Celene. There are nobles in the capital at Niole Dra who still insist they have evidence that 'Soil' is not a real material and that its existence has been fabricated by the Divine Order to provide an excuse to enforce the independence of Celene and stymie Keoland expansion.
Keoland is currently ruled by King Kimbertos Skotti. He is an experienced woodsman who regrets the need for his recent turn to violent conquest, which he largely blames on the Scarlet Brotherhood, who he fears would have usurped his vassel states if he had not acted to place them under his direct control. While humans still make up three quarters of the population, Keoland harbours the largest non-human population outside Celene, particularly of smallfolk. However, use of arcane magic outside of sanctioned royal guilds is strictly prohibited.
Nestled between several mountain ranges, the lands here tend to farm more livestock than crops. Their cities, however, are industrial powerhouses, and tend to be more so when the trade lanes are open, and iron and lumber from Ahlissa is flowing west to supplement the meagre local supplies.
