Copperfinn Highroad

The Copperfinn Highroad is a mostly artifical and fortified road cutting straight through the Fenorijten Swamp. It is the only road through the swamp that is completely connected and can be traveresed without the need for any ferries. You can mostly keep your feet dry using this route.

  The road has been constructed in an effort to enable quicker military movements towards the south. Its construction was heavily supported by several merchant groups, notably those excluded from the Gamian Group, which controls the trade along the Rosteyn River. It took about two years to construct the fiftythree bridges and fourtyeight dams and polders that form the road.   The road is well fortified with several worker camps from the construction efforts turned into walled waystations along the whole path. Workers are tasked to keep lamps lit along the path all day and night and most stretches of the road are bordered with large, visible fencing.   Travelling through the swamp is still considered dangerous. Many travelers barve or stupid enough to travel during during the twilight hours have gotten lost in the swamp forever. Some suspect the evil spirits that haunt the swamps, others tell tales of dangerous creaturs occasionally hunting on the roas. The local garrison command suspects activity from particularily ruthless local bandits.   The road also has the only inland swamp harbour in all of Caramiza. Local inhabitants of the swamplands arrive here with their goods to sell to the travelling merchants.
