Jaggedpine Forest
The taiga of northeastern Tharron is known as the Jaggedpine Forest. The region is mostly covered in ancient conifers, but marshy regions exist along the Jaggedpine River. The western part is home to the Halasian Clans, humans based around the town of Halas. The north eastern part of the forest is home to the E'ci'Dal (who raid the Halasians from their camps in the taiga). Voxian sarnak can be found around the entrance to Moradhim, and a group of orcs called the Frostreavers have a fort on a rocky island off the northeastern coast. The south-central part of the forest is home to the the Splitpaw gnolls. Numerous Fomorian ships have pulled up on the eastern coast, and their troops make the coast especially dangerous.
Points of Interest
The Great Cairn: A Cairn overlooks the north sea. Camp Wyrmskull: (named for the dragon skull that sits in the center) has ranger, shaman, and berserker trainers. It is the starting town for the E'ci'Dal. Halas: A Northfolk town at the foot of the Rathe Mountains. Halas is considered a cultural backwater, and most of its warriors use axes and spears and wear hide armor with wooden shields. Only the elite can afford metal swords and armor from Qeynos or Kaladim. Halasian fur and amber traders make trips to Serpent's Crossing for such goods. Most buildings are small, round, celtic-style houses. The Moot Hall, where clan chieftains from throughout the region gather to discuss pressing issues, is the only sizable structure. There is an Ancient Oak in the square in front of the Moot Hall which druids can teleport to and from. Moradhim: A narrow road cuts along the cliffs running north. At the end of the road stands a colossal gate which leads deep into the Rathe Mountains to Moradhim where the ice dragon, Lady Vox, keeps her court. This subterranean lair is home to sarnak, dragonlings, and frost drakes. It was once the dwarven city of Moradhim, but after Vox conquered the city, the surviving dwarves became her servants. Frostreaver Castle:An ancient stone castle built onto a large rock outcrop in a cove off the northern coast is a formidable fortress for any foe to assail. The cove provides shelter for the orcish longships and fishing boats that dock at the castle. The lower levels are mostly populated with low level orcs, but as one ascends towards the fifth floor, the challenge increases substantially. Theorsgar Isle: An island next to Frostreaver Castle. An orc village is located there. Serpent's Crossing: A northfolk village at the bridge across the Serpent River. A wooden palisade protects the settlement from the Splitpaw gnolls. Nokk: A former ogre fortress, now inhabited by undead ogres and orcs. The Serpent River: a wide, fast flowing river. It can be safely crossed at the old Combine bridge at Serpent's Crossing. Trying to swim across requires a difficult swim check. Failure leads to being swept far downstream. Critical failure leads to drowning. Success leads to winding up only a short ways downstream. The water is very cold and requires a save versus cold even in the summer. In the winter, the river freezes over allowing players to cross on foot (although it will be slippery). Splitpaw: The Splitpaw gnoll tribe are ruled by a cabal of Thulite gnolls. The underground burrow is filled with a mix of living and undead gnolls.NPCs:
