Deep Marsh

The Deep Marsh is a large cavern under the Dal'lian Mountains. The floor of the cavern is mostly flooded with shallow water, however small fungus encrusted islands peek out from the surrounding shallows.   The Languid River empties into the marsh from the east. T'Vatar Castle, a Teir'Dal fortress, straddles the river with a portcullis that allows barges from Crushbone to enter the castle.   The western edge of the marsh ends in a cliff that drops down to Lake Nerius below. N'Mar's Ascent is a Teir'Dal fort built on the cliff to guard the lakeside dock and ferry trade goods and supplies to and from the lake. A series of bridges and walkways through the marsh connect N'Mar's Ascent to T'Vatar Castle and trade convoys periodically travel between the two.   One of the islands has an ancient monument to a primordial being.

NPCs

Duergar: Dwarf-like fae that wander the marsh. They carry lanterns that they turn on and off to lure travelers towards them.   Grundylow: Ambush travelers, grabbing them and dragging them into the water.
