Pentacle

The Pentacle is the headquarters of the Council of Five and a symbol of that body’s supreme power over the governance of Eden. Located in The Garden, on the banks of the great lake and in the shadow of Dükuhüo Aüki, this building has been the sight of many pivotal moments in Edenian history.

Purpose / Function

The Pentacle serves as the official meeting place of the Council of Five. All official business is conducted here. This includes daily meetings of the Council while they are in session, public hearings, and the depositions of individuals of significance from across the whole of Eden.

Architecture

The building takes its name from its distinct shape, which can only truly be appreciated from above. The large, pentagram-shaped central room is surrounded by a circular colonnade, giving the appearance of a pentacle to anyone who might look down upon it.

The five triangular spaces within the central room are each occupied by one of the Council’s five constituent nations. The pentagonal space at the center of the room is reserved for invited guests and is otherwise left empty. And the spaces within the colonnade that are not occupied by the central room are given over to well-kept gardens.

The pointy end of each of the pentagram’s triangular spaces points roughly in the direction of that nation’s capital city. Each of these spaces are furnished with a desk and chair for that country’s representative.

Tourism

While the colonnade is almost always open to the public, the only times Edenians seem to visit in great numbers are during closed sessions where they’re kept a safe distance away from the building. Most days, the business of the Council is dreadfully mundane. Because of this, while visitors to The Garden don’t miss a chance to bask in the building’s exterior beauty, tourists rarely go inside.

A nice building that absolutely does not resemble any five sided buildings in our world!

I really like the idea that the points point (heh) towards their respective nations.

Thanks! Yes, that was one of the first things I came up with a couple of years back. Had no idea what the rest of the building looked like until this week, though!
