The Re-born
While many will debate if the Re-born are actually considered a race, it is hard to argue their impact on culture and the lives of those who live in Khorvaire.
Originally created by a coalition between House Cannith, House Deneith and House Jorasco the Re-Born were originally was created to help supply House Deneith with stronger and undying soldiers. It was a cheaper way to give those injured in war a new life and a new way to fight again, along with some upgrades.
This did not last long as a military program since the idea of a cybernetic body intrigued the upper classes of Khorvaire. Eventually the Dragonmarked Houses began to sell these cybernetic bodies to those who had the credits. Using the House Jorasco soul transference technology along side House Cannith engineers, the rich and famous of Khorvaire could design their perfect bodies and then live as them for eternity.
With the original price of 100,000 Gold Credits for this procedure it came to no surprise that an alternative started popping up in the "Black Clinics" of Eberron. For a much lower price anyone with the credits could make their way to a "Black Clinic" in search for a new body. The only problem is that the "Black Clinics" for the most part are operated in the undergrounds and their practices are unethical at best.
In 1999 there is enough "Re-born" living throughout Eberron to have a somewhat official name and even though there numbers are small most generally informed people are aware of them.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The anatomy of the Re-born race differs between each member of the species.
While some Re-Born prefer to blend in with the races around they take a more of an indistinguishable appearance, they may use synthetic skin and lab grown hair to look like their preferred race. Other Re-born prefer to show off the tech they are created with and take a more robotic and technological look with sharp edges and glowing lights.
Genetics and Reproduction
The Re-born being a manufactured race do not reproduce like the other races. They are created either in the official labs of the Dragonmarked Houses, The Black Clinics or by the ambitious.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The Re-born much like the Warforged do not have the need to eat or drink, yet some of them still do for enjoyment or to remember their past lives.
Additional Information
Social Structure
The Re-born fit very strangely into the melting pot of Eberron.
Some people believe that they are an abomination and should be outlawed, many could care less about them and small pockets of Re-born have even begun to congregate to create their own small societies and even some religions.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The Re-born are created with all the same senses as the other races. They can hear, smell, taste, feel and see just as well as everyone else.
Additionally their cybernetic eyes give them an advantage at perceiving in the dark.
While a majority of Re-born have basic senses their brethren created by House Cannith, House Deneith and House Jorasco and not the Black Clinics will usually have extra features. Usually these Re-born are created with the greatest tech available to the Dragonmarked Houses and are the equivalent to super humans. They have faster reflexes, better sight and advanced intellect.
