Maj. Fendrick Gladefoot
Major Fendrick Gladefoot is the commanding officer of the troops stationed in Yanus Duchy. He is quartered in Vulyar Castle, where he serves Duke Alexander ir'Yanus.
He was a captain in Vulyar at the time of Duke Elias ir'Kunstler's rebellion. He joined Major Bogdan Yanus in his refusal to march Kunstler's troops against the king and was imprisoned along with him. Kunstler's rebellion failed and the King appointed Yanus as the new duke. Duke ir'Yanus promoted Gladefoot to serve as his major on the same day. The halfling community of Vulyar celebrated his promotion, as he was the first halfling to attain the rank of major in the history of the Karrnathi Army. The human community, however, was divided, with many calling the appointment "cynical", a cheap ploy for the new duke to ingratiate himself to the city's halflings. Duke ir'Yanus settled the "debate" by penning a five-page puff piece and having it published in The Vulyar Forge detailing Major Gladefoot's wartime accomplishments and his fifty years of military service, commenting that any human with his portfolio would have been a colonel for fifteen years.
After Duke ir'Yanus' death in 1005, Gladefoot was the one who read his will, which gave control of the duchy to Alexander.
