A devastating six-year conflict that marked the end of the Rising Age and the beginning of the Cleansing Age. Led by the so-called Witch of the North, a powerful mage who rallied ancient dragons and Esliran spellcasters, the war was framed as an uprising against order and civilization. In response, the allied dukedoms of Valon, guided by the heroic Wizard of the South, united to protect the realm. The war culminated in the fall of Widton and Silvercreek Piers, the transformation of High King Golmund Crovan into a tree, and the rise of his son Gyffard, who initiated sweeping reforms. With the war’s end, the Cleansing Age began—defined by the outlawing of magic in Miraland, strict oversight in Escya, and the widespread purging of magic users and dragonkin bloodlines across Valon.
