The Iron Vow

The Iron Vow was a formidable party of adventurers who protected the northern parts of Valon from formidable threats during their 20 years of active duty. After a gruesome battle with a Fomorian necromancer the party disbanded shortly prior to the Great Magic War.   The Iron Vow’s name is still whispered among those who remember their exploits, and some members remain in contact, though the bonds have frayed over time.

History

Some of the Iron Vow's notable Adventures include:
  • The Siege of Steelclaw Keep: The Iron Vow repelled a fire giant warlord’s invasion, with Thia infiltrating enemy lines to disrupt their strategy.
  • The Blackstone Insurrection: A mind flayer conspiracy that nearly enslaved a city. The Iron Vow narrowly defeated the Crimson Lords with Thia’s expertise in the Underdark.
  • The Curse of the Fomorian Lord: A battle against the Fomorian necromancer Balorn Darkeye left Thia cursed and physically weakened, forcing her to retire from adventuring eventually.
1. The Siege of Steelclaw Keep The fire giant warlord Gorthak the Cruel was bent on conquering the northern kingdom after breaching into the Realm of the Living from the Black Isles. Thia and her party were hired to defend Steelclaw Keep, a coastal fortress in northern Miraland, from Gorthak, leading a giant invasion. The party fought through hordes of giants and ogres, with Thia using her infiltration skills to sabotage the enemy’s war machines. The final battle with Gorthak was brutal, with Jorran leading the charge and Valkyn holding the line against overwhelming odds. Thia struck the final blow by slipping into Gorthak’s fortress and assassinating his chief tactician, disrupting the siege. These were the first major battles that gave the Iron Vow significant recognition.   2. The Blackstone Insurrection Thia and her group became involved in an insurrection led by the Crimson Lords, a group of mind flayers who sought to enslave a population of surface-dwellers and expand their empire into the material plane. Thia’s knowledge of the Underdark allowed the party to infiltrate the mind flayers’ stronghold. Serenith’s abjuration magic protected them from psionic attacks, while Drelor used his dark magic to fight fire with fire. They barely escaped with their lives after confronting the Crimson Lords’ leader, Xerathor, though they managed to prevent a catastrophic invasion.   3. The Curse of the Fomorian Lord One of the most dangerous and defining battles for Thia and her party was against Balorn Darkeye, a Fomorian who had been terrorizing the northern dwarven kingdoms. His dark magic and ability to warp reality posed a massive threat to the party, who ventured deep into his twisted underground domain. Thia used her warlock powers to pierce through his illusions and free enslaved dwarves. However, she was grievously injured by a cursed weapon, which left her physically weakened and inflicted her with a curse that she has yet to break.

Disbandment

After Thia being weakened by Balorn, she and Jorran decided to settle down in Eslira and found their family. The other party members either contiued their adventures or settled for a more peaceful life themselves.
