Thia Alathar
Thia Alathar- Nailo (a.k.a. The Shadowfeather, The Birdkeeper, Widow of the Crimson Desert, The Weeping Dagger)
Thia's Curse: "Balorn's Shadow"
During her times adventuring with the Iron Vow, Thia came close to death at the hands of a Femorian necromancer and has been cursed by his blade ever since. The curse entails the following effects: Whenever Thia exerts herself physically in combat, she experiences severe twisting pain as though her body is being warped from within. Thia’s shadow occasionally moves independently, especially during times of stress or intense pain. The shadow may lash out at her or her surroundings. Her reflection in mirrors, water, and other reflective surfaces still shows her as twisted and grotesque, resembling a Fomorian, but after years of exposure, it no longer frightens her. Instead, it’s a source of frustration and a constant reminder of the curse that plagues her. Over the years Thia has gotten used to the curse but it has become a constant source of frustration, leading to her avoiding reflective surfaces, breaking them if necessary and finally ending her days as an adventurer as she now views herself less capable of fighting. The reflection and shadow aspects of her curse remind Thia daily of the Fomorian who cursed her. Her deep-seated anger and frustration are focused on the Fomorians, particularly Balorn Darkeye, whose memory still haunts her. Thia’s desire for revenge or to break free of the curse might be something that drives her to act with more intensity when confronting Fomorians or creatures associated with dark magic.Physical Description
Special abilities
Thia’s warlock magic is bird-flavored thanks to her celestial patron, Ganet, who takes the form of a bird-like creature. Her magic manifests in bright yellow energy, resembling the golden glow of sunlight reflecting off feathers. When casting spells, faint bird-like shapes or patterns appear within the magic, and her attacks may leave behind feather-like sparks or whirling gusts of wind that mimic a bird in flight.
Apparel & Accessories
Thia has multiple ear piercings, often adorning them with delicate silver and black jewelry. These add an extra layer of elegance to her look, while still keeping an air of mystery. Some of her earrings might be enchanted trinkets or small protective charms.
Her wardrobe consists of comfortable yet elegant clothes. She favors dark colors like blacks, deep purples, and midnight blues, but the clothing is often finely tailored, giving her a sharp, stylish look even in everyday situations. She wears clothes that allow for movement and comfort, perfect for her past as a rogue and adventurer, but with subtle embellishments that reflect her more elegant side. Think long coats, soft leathers, and flowing scarves that add a touch of elegance without hindering her agility.

Personal history
Thia Naïlo, a drow rogue-warlock, was born and raised in the Underdark near Tarrin. Her mother was a renowned priestess of the Spiderqueen, and her father was a skilled assassin in the drow community. Thia’s life took a sharp turn when her mentor betrayed her family, fatally wounding her father and casting them into disgrace. With her mother’s help, Thia escaped the drow colony, fleeing to the surface world where she learned to survive as a charlatan. Over time, she became skilled at faking identities and using her charm and drow training to her advantage.
However, her past continued to haunt her. One of her closest friends—a fellow rogue—was seemingly killed because of Thia’s own betrayal during a high-stakes deception. Guilt-ridden and on the run, Thia fled into the Crimson Desert, nearly perishing in its harsh conditions. In her most desperate moment, she met her warlock patron, a bird-like celestial named Ganet, who granted her power in exchange for a promise to become a better person and protect birds. This pact saved her life and marked the beginning of her journey as a warlock.
After forming the pact, Thia joined an adventuring party called The Iron Vow, using her newfound powers to aid her companions. They had a string of successful quests across Miraland and Eslira, where Thia eventually met and fell in love with Jorran Alathar, a human member of the party. Together, they faced powerful enemies, gathered magical treasures, and established a lasting reputation as formidable adventurers.
Thia and Jorran later had a child and, after a long period of adventuring, Thia sustained a curse that began to deteriorate her sense of self and identity. The curse also contributed to her leaving the adventuring life and settling in Tarrin. Now, she runs Lorran’s Oddities, a magical shop filled with trinkets, artifacts, and memories of her past.
Social
Family Ties
Thia used to be married to Jorran Alathar with whom she adventured alongside the Iron Vow. The both of them had a son who rarely seeks contact nowadays.
Religious Views
Thia worships Linos, the god of darkness but her main focus lies on her Patron Ganet, who is a birdlike celestial and granted her her warlock powers centuries ago. Especially nowadays she fully embraces his symbolism and takes care of the local birds.
Mannerisms
Thia enjoys sarcasm and often uses it as a defense mechanism, as well as for amusement. She is rarely serious in everyday interactions and often sweet-talks people in a playful, teasing manner. This can make her seem flippant, but it’s part of her charm. She knows how to push people’s buttons without truly offending them, often disarming tense situations with humor.
Despite the general suspicion or hostility toward drow, Thia wears her heritage proudly. Her confidence is partly due to the many compliments she received from her spouse, Jorran, who always admired her striking looks. She’s acutely aware of people’s discomfort with her race but leans into it, using her charm to either disarm them or make them squirm, depending on her mood.
