Personality and Mannerism

Ayda is reserved, highly intelligent, nerdy, very introverted and shy, usually keeping to herself and avoiding social contact. She will most likely sit in a corner, deeply focused on the current book she's reading and deepening her knowledge. However when asked about magic, the Realm of Chaos or creatures like mindflayers or Nevaelyth she just won't stop talking. If needed she is very well mannered and can confidently use the proper ettiquette although she never told anyone why she knows it in the first place. She keeps her past close to the chest but is not without empathy. She fears losing her freedom more than anything and prefers planning three steps ahead before trusting anyone fully.

As off lately Ayda has developed a very strong interest in Zanak, a fellow member of the Onyx Assembly and one of those who recruited her into the organization. She admires his clumsyness tied with physical fortitude and sweet demeanour that clearly shows his affection on his side. However she is well aware of his ego and how he thrives on gratification, often teasing him with a playful attitude she rarely shows anybody else.

Backstory

Early Life

Ayda was born in Lanroy Forest, the daughter of an elven diplomat from Falenora and a human scholar. Her father, serving as part of a special diplomatic corps, worked in Aston, a small town in the human kingdom of Miraland, located south of the Golden Heights.

Miraland, after the Great Magic War, had outlawed most forms of arcane magic. However, Queen Inastina Thaoro Teuivae of Falenora negotiated fragile diplomatic terms that allowed for elven mages to serve as magical consultants within human courts. One such court was that of House Sternthorne, which came to depend on Ayda’s magical talent. Thanks to her dual heritage, Ayda became court mage at a young age, honored for her intellect but always treated with distance and suspicion.

Fall of Falenora and Betrayal

When Queen Inastina's reign ended in a violent rebellion, Miraland quickly turned on its former allies. House Sternthorne, once Ayda's patrons, betrayed her family in a public display of loyalty to the anti-magic regime. Her parents were accused of espionage and burned at the stake.

Ayda watched it all happen. When she realized there would be no trial, no appeal, and no future for her kind in Aston, she snapped, setting fire to the estate with unleashed arcane fury. Few survived. She fled that night, and Aerendyl Normoira died, a name whispered in fear and warrants.

Imprisonment on Manfail Island

Despite her efforts to hide, Aerendyl was eventually captured and sent to the Manfail Islands, a high-security prison for arcane criminals and war mages. Upon arrival, her spellbook was confiscated, cutting her off from her full magical potential. She was marked and watched closely, surrounded by the ruins of forgotten experiments and the tortured remains of other mages.

While on Manfail, Ayda met Lysanir, a cryptic fellow prisoner with strange insights into forbidden magic. It was also there—deep within a pit carved below the surface of the prison—that Ayda encountered a slumbering Nevaelyth, a creature born of darkened magic and chaos. This experience left her physically unharmed but spiritually marked, and it planted a seed of power (or corruption) she has yet to fully understand. Yet it also awoke a deep interest in the nature of these dark creatures.

Eventually, Ayda used her intellect and remaining magical power to escape the prison merely using cantrips, fleeing across the sea and making her way to Widton, where she now lives in disguise - from now on calling herself Ayda and hiding her true identity behind hairdye and elven warpaint.
