Astral Elf

Astral Elves are elves who were chosen by Urdall and invited into his Realm. They often loose their identity prior to entering the Realm of Time and many serve him as custodians of the Threads of Time and mediators between the timelines. They believe they were chosen for this task because of their unmatched intellect and discipline, and they take their role as temporal guardians very seriously. These elves often act as guides or gatekeepers, ensuring that those who enter the Realm of Time (either intentionally or through death) do not disrupt its delicate balance. In exchange for their service, Urdall granted them longevity that surpasses even other elves.

Culture and Personality

Purpose:
Astral elves serve Urdall as custodians of the Threads of Time and as mediators between the timelines. They believe they were chosen for this task because of their unmatched intellect and discipline, and they take their role as temporal guardians very seriously.

Isolation and Detachment:
Due to their timeless existence, astral elves often struggle to relate to mortal concerns. While they may interact with mortals in a compassionate or condescending manner, their ultimate loyalty lies with the preservation of the timeline, even if it means sacrificing individuals or groups.

Worship of Urdall:
Many astral elves revere Urdall, seeing him as the ultimate arbiter of fate and knowledge, and strive to emulate his patience and wisdom. However, some have grown disillusioned over the centuries, believing Urdall’s neutrality and detachment from mortal suffering to be cold and unjust.

Hierarchy and Factions:

Keepers of the Timeline: Loyal followers of Urdall who see their purpose as protecting the timeline at all costs, even if it means erasing disruptions or sacrificing mortals to maintain balance.
Seekers of Lost Knowledge: A splinter faction of astral elves who obsessively seek out forgotten moments in time, believing that mortals have squandered critical knowledge. They may act selfishly or even hoard this information for their own purposes.

Astral Elves in the Realm of Time

Role in the Realm:
Astral elves maintain the integrity of the Threads of Time, guiding lost souls along their path to the Realm of Death or preventing temporal anomalies caused by mortals meddling with time magic. They often act as guides or gatekeepers, ensuring that those who enter the Realm of Time (either intentionally or through death) do not disrupt its delicate balance. On a rare occasion an astral elf is lead astray from his role and can suffer the same fate as any other mortal entering the Realm of Time - however that is quite rare as most astral elves are well adjustet to their home realm.

Connection to the Threads of Time:
Astral elves can sense disruptions in the timeline, such as paradoxes, time travel, or unstable echoes of the past. They may intervene directly or send constructs and guardians to deal with the problem. They often meditate in the Threads of Eternity, where they glimpse fragments of the past and possible futures, using this knowledge to guide their actions.

Conflict with Mortals:
While astral elves generally avoid interfering with mortals, they may act aggressively if mortals disrupt the timeline or attempt to misuse temporal artifacts. Their perspective on time often puts them at odds with mortals, who view time as linear and precious.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Their skin is luminous, often with hues of pale silver, starlit white, or faint blues and golds. It often shimmers faintly when exposed to moonlight or temporal energy. Their hair flows like silk and appears almost weightless, often in shades of white, silver, gold, or twilight blue, with streaks of glowing star-like flecks that shift depending on their emotional state, although it might seem a lot more mundane in the Realm of the Living. Their eyes reflect the cosmos, appearing as swirling galaxies or nebulae, some of them also feature eyes that resemble the golden flows of time.
