Lathander

Lathander; before Inspiration's Dawn, the Morninglord, Lord of Birth and Renewal and finally the Dawnfather, but now the Crying God. Lathander is god loved by all who ever since the loss of his son and his most devoted followers, has undergone a transformation. From being a mighty warrior god of justice to being a more overbearing god of relief. Lathander once used light and life to fight, but now instead uses light and life to heal. For like his followers Lathander needs to heal.

History

The Dawnfather, god of life and light, Lathander preaches a doctrine of proactive good works and constant reevaluation of society’s traditions and mores. He is seen by many as an ultimate force for good, that preserves and protects life. This focus on life in his doctrine ultimately caused him to have a close relationship with the mortals of Eastrix. As a consequence of this, god has a lot on his plate at all times. Whilst enthusiasm and dedication are usually good, they can also cause one to act carelessly. This exact thing caused Lathandar to discount the consequences of his actions: He simply hopes for the best and attacks a problem head-on, regardless of the ramifications. This at first was seen as boldness, but now has been revealed to be recklessness.

Lathander would encourage his followers to go out and face enemies of great strength without considering the repercussions of set action. This indulgence in glory is what lead to the unfortunate neglect of his own son, Lucifer. Before Lathanader could even realize it, he was faced with a new enemy that knew himself better than anyone else ever could. His own son, his Lord of Flames, had fallen to the temptations of the Seven Hells. This was then followed up with the destruction of Moonshore village at the hands of the now-dead god, Anamar. Lathander was devasted.

Nowadays, Lathander has seen a new light in his dawn full of inspiration to reinvent himself. He has adopted an incarnation of compassion. Lathander now chases to be the eternal foe of suffering and a generous, good-spirited, and even-tempered deity, with a kind and gentle nature. He encourages his followers, those that are left, to endure, and by taking their burdens or places. He endures their pain, so that they may continue. He was called the Dawnfather, but now many followers, have started to refer to him as the Crying God. On the other hand, the followers of Arch Demon, especially those influenced by Lucifer, have started to refer to him as the Broken God.

Depiction

In avatar form, Lathander over the years has changed his avatar to be more befitting his new ideals. His visage radiated the bright shine of the morning sun and his hair burned with flaming orange-red fire as a handsome young slender muscled human man. Now, this young muscled man has turned to begin appearing as a short man with a burly build and wearing torn and tattered version of his elsewhere luxurious ropes, with a plain but kind and comforting face. His body bears the marks of mutilation and burning scars of the explosion of Moonshore village.
