Archipelago of Anguish and Redemption

ORIGIN

Once a single massive plane, the Splinter Realms were scattered long ago into many planes during a conflict. Earth 530's physical laws often do not apply. Islands float into the ether and are consumed by surreal gapping jaws. There is no gravity as we know it. Time moves in different ways, in fact Spacetime is often divided into Space and Time. The Splinter Realms are ruled by a myriad of warring mystic entities who seek to expand their territories. In rare situations the Lords of the Splinter Realms can be called together, such as during the battle with the "Archenemy." Many of Earth 530's underworlds are connected to the Splinter Realms and there seems to be a connection between the Dark Dimensions and the darker aspects of existence (death, fear, confusion.) The Archipelago of Anguish and Redemption is a collection of Dimensions reachable from Earth 530.

EARLY YEARS

The Dark Dimensions were once a single massive plane, but was shattered into many planes during a conflict long ago. The largest remaining piece became known as the Dark Dimension. Its status as the largest and most aggressive dimension allowed it to successfully conquer and assimilate many of the Splinter Realms into itself, using mystic means to merge into a single domain, a synthesis of realities.

Before a passage could be found through the Winding Way and into the Archipelago, Raggadorr was thought for centuries to be as far as a mortal wizard could travel without sleeping, dying, or being subjected so some sort of mystical transformation.

BIRD-MEN ON SEPHIROTH

Upon arriving on the Planes of Sephiroth, after their banishment from Earth 530 by Oshtur, the Winged Lord of Akah Ma'at's opposing factions of the Asura and the Seraphim secured an uneasy peace and built together the Citadels of Sephiroth, to serve as a line of defence against creatures from the Dark Dimension that would invade the Lower Realms.
