Wood elves
Wood elves are the most numerous of the elves, and live in less developed areas. They have very limited large scale organizations, existing primarily as small independent towns, linked only by trade and certain religious festivals. These towns, or _____, are each based around a shrine constructed into a _____ tree, which are massive trees over 10m in diameter with a strongly magical nature they..... The town is then built around a central ovular courtyard, with the shrine at one end. All the buildings of the town exist in this single loop, with the trees of the forest forming the rear support columns of many of the buildings. The wood elves will live in one of these towns for a "season" a number of years that depends on many natural factors, before moving on to another town around another tree, dismantling everything except the shrine when they leave.
The magical trees are part of an interconnected network of similarly magical trees inhabited by other tribes of wood elves of the same faction. They connections have been established a long time ago through an extensive underground root system of the forest that is difficult to fully understand. The wood elves have some knowledge of how certain buttress of the magical tree can be used to connect to other factions however, it is not exact knowledge.
The trees are also deeply affected by the magic of the woodelves during their stay. The memory of wood elves at any particular location in the forest is preserved in the cross-section of the shrine tree. The color/pattern of the rings of the tree are different in the seasons it is uninhabited vs the season it is inhabited by wood elves. Can it also identify specific factions of wood elves?
Some of the trees have stairs on the side. Each of the trees are slightly unique, have been visited a different number of times. The shrine around each is therefore a little unique. There is also the idea of a birth tree. Women give birth at the top of trees.
Wood elves, like all other elves are comfortable with heights. All elves value giving birth at heights. This is actually a relic of proto-elf times, when giving birth closer to the surface was given importance.
