Salt Elves

Salt elves mostly inhabit coastal land when they are on land, on which they are infrequently because in fact for the majority of the time, they are out in the sea. Between the elves and humans, salt elves are best navigators of the sea. The salt elves live with their extended families, each family unit can easily reach up to a hundred. Each family unit owns one big ship where the entire family serve as crew. Boats are also available in the big ships and smaller family units will often venture out on their own in the boats but rarely for more than a week. A normal childhood for a salt elf kid involves playing with their numerous cousins on the deck of a big ship, learning to tie knots, sail.   Often, the salt elves are confused to be the closest representatives of the proto-elves because of their association with the sea. However, this is misleading. While they roam the same seas and the protected circle originally occupied by the protoelves, the proto-elves lived their lives almost entirely under the seas. Deep diving is a rarer pursuit among the salt elves. After the proto-elves moved to land, they explored and occupied the different territories with their hospitable and challenging climates, bountiful and scarce resources. Eventually after many hundred thousand generations, a sub population of the elves began exploring the seas again, leading eventually to a thriving salt elf population who fish the seas for food and raise their sails for pleasure.   Over this time, the salt elves developed sophisticated mathematics allowing them to navigate the seas better. They had perfected the predictions of the seasons, they could anticipate a storm three days in advance, the position of the sun, moon and stars in the sky throughout the year. There were very few celestial events that the salt elves could not predict and put down in a calendar. What were these? Perhaps an errant path of a constellation in the sky? However, those few were the great mysteries that intrigued salt elf scholars leading them to dedicate whole lives to the question. These pursuits lead to sophistication in the mathematics.   Other than using sophisticated mathematics for distance measurement using island marks and stars for reference points, they also use fish and birds to their annual migration patterns or key locations for their congregation. Impressively, they also use the shape of clouds as clouds tend to condense differently on top of different islands vs out in the open sea.   Outcasts among the salt elves lead a life of piracy and wreck havoc in the seas. The pirates are less literate in terms of navigation with the stars, instead they have a more ritualistic way of determining direction of the poles. The ritual can be carried out either with all males or all females. They are tied orthogonally to a central mast of the ship, the ropework is intricate. During the ritual, cumming of the tied individuals is magically induced. The individual facing the magical pole cums first and this spreads in time to the individual facing away from the pole cumming last. If the direction of the pole is in between two orthogonally tied individuals, they cum simultaneously. There are advantages and disadvantages to using males and females for this ritual. When carried out with males, it is a quicker the   Among the salt elves, different families and factions occupy different areas of the sea. The more powerful families occupy the sea in the protected circle and lesser groups mostly navigate to the northern or southern edges of the equatorial belt. Some salt elves have ventured north and south in the past and very few such adventurers have lived to tell the tale. According to their myths, the first salt elves came about when an elf named ____ rode up in a dragon lord up to the sky. Flying behind the dragon lord, _____ traveled all around ea, to the north and the south, so she knew what lives there - the two demons. She also went all the way up to the edge of the sphere. The dragon lord eventually neared death and could not continue to take her everywhere but instead he gifted her children boats, so they could travel on their own.
