New Men

New men have a higher rate of mutation in their population. These mutations develop early in life, but most new men do not notice them until they are of an age where they can understand to hide them. This is important because these mutations are sometimes problematic, for a variety of reasons. They are sometimes simply unseemly and unattractive, but this is not the case for the majority of mutations. Exotic and odd? sure, but only occasionally are they distasteful, especially to other new men. The majority of the problems with new men are due to their implications. The other races are disturbed and confused by them, even when its a simple unproblematic mutation, such as a tail. By far the most important reason to hide them is that they are caused by the influence of demons, more specifically the newly inducted god, and mark the new men as inherently the enemies of all creation. Not all new men are evil, but their very nature is antithetical to creation.    The specific mechanics of these mutations is that new man life loops incorporate exotic winds and motifs not found in creation that are inherently unstable, and so when exposed to magic in the natural course of their lives, they are predisposed to have their life loops be permanently modified into new stable (or rarely unstable) mutations. These mutations are not specifically inherited under most circumstances, but some are and the rate of mutation increases each generation. In order to limit these mutations, the new men have colonized the south-east continent, which is the most magically inert of all the major landmasses of Eä.   I live the idea, but this needs to be rewritten: How do the mutations arise? When you have sex, you can use magic to enhance the experience, through enchanted toys, bodily enhancements or for the more experimental, threesomes with demons. The new men are especially notorious for this. However, what they as a society haven't realized is that proximity of active supplemental magic when the lifeloops are overcharged and attempting to create a new life loop can create problems.    The new men have a secret cabal of leaders who are attempting to restore the evil aspect of the new god to him, which he excised from himself in order to go undetected during his application to the pantheon. Oddly but predictably, this puts him at odds with the new god, as the aspect of him remaining does not want to become evil again. However, he cannot directly combat this cabal, as if it is brought to the attention of the other gods he will be replaced.   The new men  are the most sophisticated enchanters and engineers, despite their short existence, and their lives are full of enchanted items and magical effects, even though actual spell-casting is only as common as it is for normal humans. The exceptions to this is warlocks, where there are more new men warlocks than any other race.
