Revolution
As the dwarves dug ever deeper and grew more numerous many began to question the way they been doing things and some even began forming factions in hope of creating change. This first came when a faction noted that they never seemed to get closer to the light in the mountain no matter how much they dug.
As the dwarves dug ever deeper many of them began questioning the role their leaders had naturally assumed after their creation. This role consisted of digging ever deeper after the light in the mountain and making sure that each and every dwarf were getting an equal reward. To some this was not what they wanted. They believed themselves to be better than the others as they dig faster and deeper than any of the others. Others dwarves again doubted the light could even be reached and others again disagreed with even digging deeper. In the end this resulted in fights all around the mines with frequent bar brawls which would erupt into larger fights. In the end a group of militarily oriented dwarves decided to band together and stop the fights. While they were successful in doing so, many did not agree with their methods. These dissidents kept rioting and eventually had to be thrown out. From here a large portion of the best craftsmen and miners of the dwarves ventured north in search of better mountains to mine.
