Financial Event
As the years went by, the Holy Order of Druid only gained political power and with it their chokehold of Nisdain and by extension the rest of the wasteland. As the years passed and the situation became increasingly critical as the wasteland had relied on trade for food, the inhabitants of Niko and the rest of the wastelands began looking for food elsewhere. The Gulf of Li'minar quickly became a primary food source, but its unpredictable currents meant that boats could not fare far enough away from the coast to feed everyone. The solution eventually came in the form of diplomatic relations with aquatic races that had somehow made the gulf a home for themselves when no one believed the waters to be habitable.
As the food scarcity became more and more critical boats increasingly took the risk of going further out in order to secure more food. This carried huge risk and many died. One fisher however crashed and returned to shore, full of tails of fishmen that saved him and carried him ashore. Most did not believe these tales as the gulf already at this time was full of whirlpools and thought to be too chaotic for any civilization to survive in, much less thrive. To prove a point he once again ventured out and kept doing so for several days until eventually he met them again. This time, however, he had brought gems and gold in hopes of trading, and the fishmen obliged giving him momentoes of those lost at sea so he could prove his stories. This immediately caused an uproar and once a method for contacting the fishmen was devised, a regular trade network soon appeared with them as well as the many other aquatic civilisations in the gulf. Upon learning of this, the Holy Order of Druids were not happy, but as they had not known about these new civilizations, they had little leverage over them. As such they were forced to sit back while the wastelands were able to regain their footing.
