Political event
The Merchant Republic of Du'merh lasted for about 5 generations before it finally collapsed. The Free Holdings had seen no reason to help them out of their rot, and the Savage Isles had for all the time been continuously embroiled in war. In the end, it had simply become too much for the merchant families to make everything work and as they increasingly kept scaling back things, they ended up completely disbanding the whole government.
The merchant families had initially enjoyed a fair bit of favour from their populace. They had replaced an unpopular king and restored power in a way that was easier to influence for those who were doing well. They had also taken steps to rid themselves of the annoying road tolls that the Free Holdings had placed upon them, and many had hoped they could get rid of them for good without war. This, however, did not happen. What had started as a symbolic declaration of war turned into a cold war where neither side wanted to actually battle and since the Free Holdings had the upper hand there was nothing that could be done. As generations went on and Du'merh grew increasingly poor, the ruling merchants began scaling back the government. People where increasingly free to do what they wanted with fewer and fewer taxes, controls, and eventually laws. In the end, the government was completely disbanded and Du'merh turned halfway into anarchy.
