Conquest of Midway Island

After ascending the throne Hadrol Crystalgut I wanted to replicate his father's successes. This had him looking for land to conquer and after a long drawn-out war, he finally managed to take hold of Midway Island.

Due to the distance to Midway Island, many did not see the war coming when it first started. The dwarves had famously not been wanting to build boats before, preferring to stay in their mountains. Midway Island had no mountains which made the move even more expected.   When the first assault ships landed on the shore most did not even realise they were anything other than bandits or pirates, and when they set up camp no one was able to do much initially. The main island as well as the surrounding islands had generally not had any government before so the reaction was slow and the response was initially uncoordinated but there was a fierce cultural connection which when presented with an outside thread brought all the tribes together. Although they lost in the end it took more than a hundred years before the dwarves had fully taken over the island and even then it was a strenuous hold which Hadrol Crystalgut I would spent the rest of his life trying to hold.
