Southscar

Originally founded as Claycarin, this colony was an extension of Carnika in an effort to expand their territory and potentially relocate their capital. The town was constructed on the northern tip of the island of Greenclaw just south of Carnika. The founding was led by Jekerrik Talseri and construction had begun shortly after arriving on the island. Shortly after, tragedy struck. Mysterious attackers of unknown description or origin led an assault on the settlers. Of the thirteen ships that left to settle, only two returned. The crew had been maimed and brought to madness.   In the following years two separate expeditions set out to Greenclaw once more to find any details on the state of Claycarin and possibly broker peace with the natives of the island. The first did not return to Carnika. The second however, did find the ruins of Claycarin, along with imperial escort ships and the original vessels in complete wreckage. The expedition found it wise to not anchor on the island at all and returned to Carnika posthaste. When the emperor heard tell of what the sailors had discovered he issued a ban of all travel to Greenclaw. The Carnikan empire has never returned. The people renamed the city Southscar as a reminder of the danger there.
