The Red Traveler
The Red Traveler, known by countless names across Duurn, is a deific entity as powerful as they are enigmatic. They are known to appear as a stranger, typically dressed in extravagent red clothing. Often described as charming and charismatic, in most described encounters they offer an exchange of some sort. What precisely is being exchanged varies, but the Red Traveller often requests the completion of some task or another, which may be more or less hazardous or difficult. Oftentimes, these tasks seem inconsequential or odd, with the true purpose only coming to light far later, if at all.
Cults to the Red Traveler exist all across the world, attempting to evoke the deity for one purpose or another. Thaumaturges in particular often find the Red Traveler appealing, and stories abound of mortals seeking their power, often with disastrous results. This hasn't stopped many from attempting to follow in their footsteps. However, most of these cults never achieve contact with the deity, at least not knowingly.
Nobody knows the true goals of the Red Traveler. Their schemes undoubtedly span centuries, if not millenia, placing them beyond the capacity of most mortals to comprehend.
The Red Traveller appears as a humanoid dressed in something prominently featuring the color red, with their face shrouded from view. They have androgynous features, and two people encountering them at the same time may walk away disagreeing on the gender of the person they just met. All who meet them, however, agree that they are hypnotically charismatic and have a palpably magnetic aura.
