Second Tehanti Revolution

The Second Tehanti Revolution was an uprising in the Republic of Tehant following the Red Week. During the Revolts of 1306, Tehanti labor unions were crucial in stopping the echelarist coup. In the decades that followed, the communist and unionist movements surged in popularity across the country.

In 1332, the Red Week hit and Tehant suffered economically, though its separation from Khahlanong kept it from experiencing the worst of the economic devastation. Later that year, the Party for Social Revolution won the elections by a narrow margin. The party in power, the Tehanti Democratic Party, attempted to block the Party for Social Revolution from taking power by suspending the election results. The country erupted in outrage. A general strike was declared across most of the major labor unions, demanding that the prime minister step down and the government be dissolved.

With the economic effects of the Red Week still troubling Tehant, the general strike threatened to collapse the state. The prime minister ordered the army to suppress the strikers, but much of the army refused their orders. Ultimately, after several months of strikes, unrest, and small skirmishes, the government was forced to resign. With the labor unions and the Party for Social Revolution effectively in a position of complete power, the party began the process of rewriting the constitution, eventually founding the Tehanti Council Republic when the restructuring was completed in 1334 CE.
