Loritanian Civil War

The Loritanian Civil War, beginning in 1121, was a conflict between two factions of the Loritanian royal family that lasted nearly eighteen years. At around the same time, republican ideals were spreading as part of the Age of Idealism. As the war continued, it became unpopular enough that a popular uprising broke out in 1115. Ultimately, the victorious monarch was forced to sign a constitution granting significant power to the Loritanian Parlement, which went from an advisory council with little legal power to a formalized legislative body, among the first of its kind. It is considered the beginning of the Wellspring of Nations.   This was part of a trend within Loritanian politics of the Parlement gaining more and more de facto power, until they surpassed the monarchy.
