Elisie Kocak
Elisie Kocak is a Kaisan historical figure and folk hero. As the story goes, Kocak was a peasant from the land now part of northern Kaisa. He lived in the 800s, when a terrible famine struck the land. The feudal lords were hoarding crops so they could survive and letting the poor die. Kocak created a band of peasant revolutionaries or bandits, depending on who tells the story, who killed their lord and distributed the food. Eventually, Kocak was hunted down and hanged by the king of Kaisa at the time, but the king was forced to outlaw the hoarding of grain, for fear of widespread revolt.
