Transformation Sickness

Transformation sickness is not a transmissable condition, it is directly caused by the Mermaidic-Aquatic Transformation when a merfolk goes from their legged form to their tailed form. The severity of the sickness and it's effects can be genetic however.

The current believed cause of transformation sickness is due to the Mermaidic-Aquatic Transformation, which is the transformation of a Merfolk between their land and sea forms. It is believed to be born from a genetic factor of a person's heritage and lineage that may cause a person to be more or less susceptible and may hold the key to the severity and extremity of the sickness on a merfolk's body.

Although the experiences and weight of effects vary from person to person, the usual and common experience is of a mild-dizziness and light headache, however, due to the sickness only being recently discovered and diagnosed, the full effects of the condition may not be fully discovered or known yet and thus serious amounts of caution are advised to those rapidly or constantly transforming or who seem to experience high and catastrophic symptoms due to transformation.

If a merfolk is unsure about any part of the process, it is highly stressed and STRONGLY advised that such Merfolk must, at the soonest availability, seek a medical professional or an approved medical outlet as such things that may seem silly and trivial can and are known to spiral and may cause longer and adverse effects to life and the ability to continue live a long and fulfilling life the way a Merfolk may wish to.
