The War of the Gods
The War of the Gods was fought after Ra ascended into the far reaches of the outer planes, leaving the throne to Osiris. After Set kills Osiris, the gods go to war, with the entire pantheon, with the exception of Sobek and Apothis, fighting with Horus to avenge the death of Osiris. This is how Horus gets the nickname "The Avenger."
This war was also fought amongst the mortals. The worshippers of the evil deities began fighting against the other pantheonic followers. Political entities were also forced to choose sides. The Supreme Republic, while never actually declaring war on another country, did give aid to its allies when necessary according to treaties. They refused to honor such treaties if a country aligned with the evil deities.
The Conflict
Prelude
Ra leaves the throne of the gods empty and appoints Osiris as his successor. Set, Osiris's brother becomes jealous and kills Osiris. Horus, Osiris's son, wanting to avenge his father's death, takes control of the gods and leads them in a war against the evil deities. So intense is the hatred between the gods of opposing sides, that it trickles down to their followers.
Outcome
Horus is crowned King of the Gods by the dragons.
Aftermath
The worship of evil deities (Set, Apothis, and Sobek) is illegal and punishable by death. Sobek's followers, however, are mostly ignored.
