The lands around The Reach River stir in anticipation.
For most of its denizens it is a celebration of a new era, but for others it is the inevitability of the coming war.
A once-in-a-lifetime festival rises in the Nightsalt Neck: Banners snapping to the rhythm of the sea wind, Halfman drums echoing over the marsh, and trumpets heralding the arrival of the new lords of the land.
Beneath these colorful banners and hopeful songs lies a turning point for all those that call the Nightsalt Neck home, and perhaps to all of Dorumyre. The Veyra'doria'aelthri have returned to The Neck.
These Azure Elves have arrived in gleaming regalia, not as conquerors as they once did seven centuries past, but as lords of honor promoting peace, prosperity... and bringing their dominion. Their silver ship gleams in the bay, their muskets are held imposingly, their vanguard gracious in their displays of superiority. The people of The Neck bow low and polish their smiles for Prince Aquilian, but they also sharpen their knives, unsure of what the presence of their prodigal lords portends.
It was the discovery of Archiosis, an unearthed ruin from before the The Tears of Saulunier, that drew the Veyra's gaze back to these waters. This ancient metal threshold, half-swallowed by the sea, on the remote island of holds the promise of long lost artifacts and knowledge of the great glass kingdoms of the past.
Alliances will be tested, oaths broken, and kin will be turned to stranger in misery's moments.
The sea will demand its price, and the stars will bear witness.
This is not just a festival. This is the dawn of a new age —and no one is ready for it.
"When Veryra crusades march, the world weeps."

It is said that the tides of fate crash against Shelton's weathered shores, and every wave carries the promise of fortune. This sprawling salt-caked fishing town has become the hub for the half dozen coastal villages and hamlets. It is home to rugged Human and Halfmen swamp-folk.
Shelton is made up of three boroughs built around The Reach River; Calumella , Miller's Market, & Barreltown. Calumella is the town proper and is home to find upstanding, social and community minded people. Miller's Market is home to craftsmen, merchants and the people dedicated to Intros, god of commerce. Barreltown consists of the busy docks where ships bring in their haul every day. These seasoned and hardy sailors work hard at sea and play hard on land.
(Starting location for most Azure Elves and Hal'Ver as well as Humans)
This stone castle has stood untended for two centuries. Its iron gates bleed rust, locked more by memory than by metal. Weather has carved its stone walls into pocked and hollowed faces; the wind moaning through exposed halls. Fences lie splintered in heaps, long since surrendered to rot and moss.
Only the inner keep still rises with a trace of defiance — a gray crown above the ruin — the last whisper that this was once the Veyra'doria'aelthri capital of the Neck for half a millennium. This keep has been under Elven re-construction for the better part of a year.
The Elven vanguard of masons and man-at-arms have spent just under a year reinforcing and clearing the keep in preparation for the coming of prince Aquilian'Vengella'Adnorin'Wynnelis. It is now ready to supply the comfort and protection required by the royal family.

Floating on the foam of the Ahilo'Tori'Talu'Ocean is the ever changing civilization of the The Driftwood people. Comprised of anywhere from a dozen to sometimes a hundred vessels all tied together into one massive city on the water. A member of the Driftwood knows where the Lashhold floats, a member of the Driftwood understands the reasoning behind how the ships are lashed together, a member of the Driftwood is at home on the six seas.

On the island of Bishop's Bane, sits the ruin, Archiosis. Surrounded by a few dozen barbarian and pirate hideouts throughout the Zaggit Isles is a looming metal archway leading deep into Ashard Mountain. The few groups who have entered fewer still have gone beyond the third arch, and only one of those has ever returned.

Carved by time and the elements into the side of the colossal Oriri Mountains is a jagged tunnel, the Apex Maw. A mile round opening that cleaves through the heart of that range. A gaping wound in the rock leading into the Kayjolands where the wild expanse of enlarged terrain is inhabited by titanic creatures who are lords of their lands.
A pair of massive oaken keeps called the Frontforts guards the Maw, it's denizens, The Shepards. They patrol the mouth of the maw, and range into those lands. To much time and exposure to the Kayjo will eventually warp even the most sturdy of the folk. They loose their hermitage and become Moreau.
The people of the area around the Maw are tough survivalists. In addition to the Shepards, some are remote pockets of civilization closed off to the outside world and others are barbarian tribes who take what they want.

The town of Daedport is a solemn and isolated place. Children do not play in the streets, the only songs sung are dirges. Every citizen of any age remains vigilant, watching for any sign of death and much much worse.

The castle of blah blah blah is X miles away.
