Georgetown

THE MAP IS NOT CORRECT, BUT IS GENERALLY CORRECT.   Georgetown is a large city located on the east coast of a peninsula region known as Haven. The city is roughly in the middle of the eastern coast and has a population of approximately 80,000 residents. It is divided into five districts: Ivoryreach, Docks District, The Lows, Waterways, and Market Square. Ivoryreach is located in the northern half of the city and houses the nobility, wealthy merchants, lawmakers, high clerics, and other people of high status. The Docks District is located at the mouth of the Yilt River and features numerous piers, docks, and warehouses. The Lows is located in the southern half of the city and is home to the working-class and lower-income citizens. Waterways is located on the northern side of the Yilt River and features several canals that are used for water transport and storage of goods. Market Square is located on the southern side of the Yilt River near one of the main gates and is home to many of the city's commercial establishments.   Georgetown is surrounded by a wall that extends from the northern shore of the sea back around to the west, crossing the Yilt River. There are four city gates, two on the western side of the city, one on each side of the Yilt River, a northern gate, and a southern gate. The gates are closed at night, but people with a writ and a valid purpose are permitted to leave or enter the city through smaller gates near the larger ones.   Georgetown is ruled by a council made up of representatives from various groups in the city. The council is responsible for making important decisions, passing laws, and overseeing the welfare of the city. The council members include a merchant guild representative, a high law keeper, a high cleric of Releous, and a representative of the people. Each year, one of these council members is elected to be the representative of Georgetown at the High Council in Valaria, the capital of Haven.   The city of Georgetown also has a dueling code, a bustling nightlife, and great pride in a past hero named Maximus, son of Releous. A large statue of Maximus stands outside the city's cathedral.
