Hushwood
Hushwood is a relatively normal wooded area compared to the rest of the forests on the continent, although it does still have its own unique history and interesting locations. As it is primarily composed of large, thick oak trees, the canopy of the forest blocks most light from reaching the ground-- though grass and shrubberies are still present. A large portion of Hushwood has established itself in a hilly area, as the river flowing through it provided much more water than the infrequent rain through the rest of the forest. However, after Linrea first laid claim to the forest and established Fallbrook, the hilled section of Hushwood has been flooded with water as high as the treetops themselves. The flood that formed this underwater region was the result of Runeard's Dam failing, sending the reservoir of water through the hills and creating an artificial lake. Rotted tree trunks and caved-in roofs give a short yet descriptive reminder of a what lies below.
Geography
While most of Hushwood sits on flat grassland, the growth of the forest did encroach on a nearby hilly area over time. This area trapped water quite easily, much to the detriment of the townsfolk who once lived in the village of Fallbrook, now entirely underwater with no signs of the waters receding. At the edge of the village is a large cave entrance just barely peeking above the water line, as most of the system filled when the dam initially broke.
Ecosystem Cycles
Hushwood follows the same cycles that of most other forests. Spring begins with a large period of growth, allowing Summer to be relatively cool as the trees both provide shade and retain moisture. Fall follows and the trees shed their leaves, and Winter finishes off what still remains on their branches.
Fauna & Flora
Creatures large and small inhabit the forest, most notably of which is a diverse range of fish that in one way or another end up in the expansive, accidental lake surrounding Fallbrook. Some fishermen, to their own moral deficit, will regularly venture out to the ruins of the village to take advantage of the unique situation.
