Fallbrook & Runeard's Dam
Nestled within the thicket of Hushwood, Fallbrook-- what's left of it-- was a small logging and mining village enjoying relative peace and safety under the watchful eye of Linrea. Originally the town was strictly mining, with most homes underground and out of sight, though over time the arrival of more and more settlers spread the village out into the woods, and the logging industry began to become more and more prevalent as the settlement grew. One of the first and largest problems facing the kingdom when they decided to found this settlement was the nearby river that often would swell and flood the surrounding forest, as well as the nearby cave system. This dam, named Runeard's Dam after the architect who designed it, was hastily crafted out of local lumber and stone to both block the flow of water and keep a large reservoir Fallbrook could rely on through the winter. Unfortunately, due to the rushed nature of the dams' construction, the citizens of Fallbrook awoke one rainy morning to find a wave of water barging through the forest, destroying everything in its path. The dam had failed under the very conditions it was supposed to protect from-- releasing the reservoir of water, flooding both the village and every low-lying area surrounding it. All that remains is the floating, rotting wreckage of what once was, and the roofs peeking above the water line-- a reminder of what lies beneath the unintentional artificial lake. Much conflict and debate has followed the death of Fallbrook, but unanimously blame has primarily been placed on the designer of the dam, Runeard. His trial was swift and simple-- he is damned to spend the rest of his days picking through the rubble of the town he let fall, drowning in the water he let through.
Geography
The location of Fallbrook was a lowland area within Hushwood surrounded by rolling hills that currently prevent the ruins of the village from properly draining. A sort of artificial lake has been formed, as the rushing water drowned the lowlands and left nothing but the roofs of buildings and tips of trees above the water line.
