Evermeet Mountains
At Linrea's southern border lies the Evermeet Mountain range, a thin and long grouping of mountains that separate Hushwood and The Hollow Plains. Acting as a natural barrier, these mountains prevent unauthorized passage into southern Linrean territory and provide a strategic checkpoint for its army. This is accomplished by Meklan's Vale, a combination military/mining town that blocks the only passageway through the range-- ensuring nothing and no-one can pass through without Linrea's approval. It served a key role in the Linrean-Calumdorian War, as the defenses and military facilities within it allowed Linrea to prepare, keep hidden, and subsequently unleash a devastating assault with the help of Crumizur against Calumdor's forces.
Geography
Many bare-stone mountains rise from an incline in the terrain and peak just before the snow line. The range stretches more latitudinally than longitudinally, providing a natural barrier forming Linrea's southern border. The mountains make passage difficult, forcing would-be travelers to pass through Meklan's Vale, take the long way around, or brave the unforgiving journey up and across the mountains. Most of the mountains within the Evermeet are composed of smooth, soft rock, making climbing a near impossibility for those seeking to avoid the single, heavily controlled passageway.
History
One of Linrea's first expansion ventures, the Evermeet Mountains provide a natural and unbreakable deterrent protecting the very edges of Linrea's southern border. Swiftly, Meklan's Vale was constructed to restrict all passage through the mountains to and from Hushwood as well as The Hollow Plains. The mountains have since been useful as a geographical barrier, successfully preventing the fires of The Howling Embers from spreading into Linrean territory.
