Twilight

“The Mother Between Worlds”

Among the nomads, Twilight is revered as the Mother Between Light and Dark, the spirit who walks the horizon where the sun never rises and never dies. She is the one who shelters the tribes from starvation and madness, and the one who tests their worth with storm, beast, and silence.

They teach:

“Light is the tyrant above.
Dark is the whisper beneath.
Twilight is the life between.”

According to the tribes, Twilight was born on the first night of the long winter, when the world screamed under the burning sky. As humans died and forests burned, the remaining animals cried out together in fear. Their spirits braided, their voices joined, and from their united terror rose the Mother of Twilight.

Her Nature in Tribal Belief

  • She has no face, but many eyes.
  • She speaks through wind, beast, and trembling grass.
  • She is neither gentle nor cruel, only just.
  • She punishes waste and rewards balance.
  • She guides the lost with signs and omens.
  • She watches every step taken in her realm.

Nomads believe she is:

  • the breath of the wolf
  • the memory of the elk
  • the dream of the forest
  • the whisper under the leaves
  • the shadow of every living thing

They say that if you walk the Dark Lands with humility, the world will part for you. But if you march arrogantly with many feet, her wrath will rise like a storm.

The Sacred Law of Twilight

The tribes’ core belief:

“Walk lightly, or be devoured.”

Nomads tell stories of great caravans eaten whole — not by cruelty, but because Twilight protects the world against imbalance. They teach that large groups “break her harmony,” and the land will strike until balance returns.

Her Relationship to Domers

To tribes, domers are the Unseen Ones,
soulless silhouettes hidden behind false suns.

Twilight despises them because:

  • they live outside the cycle
  • they kill more than they give
  • their hearts do not echo in her dreams
  • they carry dead light instead of living breath

Nomads believe domers are “hollow,” and when they step outside, Twilight tries to reclaim what was lost.

What Twilight Wants

Balance.
Harmony.
The old rhythm of predator and prey.

She does not desire worship, but she accepts honor.
She does not ask for sacrifice, but she punishes greed.

To live under Twilight is to live:

  • lightly
  • swiftly
  • humbly
  • with respect for the smallest creature

And tribes consider themselves her children — the chosen who learned to listen.
