Continent - Arganorh
Geography
Arganorh lies at the center of Nymeria, bordered by a mix of open seas, broken sub-continents, and scattered island chains formed by ancient magical cataclysms. Though it is the smallest continent, its geography is rich with complexity, shaped by millennia of war and unstable arcane and elemntal forces.Major Sub-Continents
- [Avanor] – Located to the west of the central fracture, Avanor is the more developed and populous region of Arganorh. It hosts coastal cities, trade hubs, and most of the human-dominated kingdoms. The terrain is a mix of forested uplands, rugged cliffs, and scattered ruins from pre-Sundering civilizations.
- [Norrhan] – Found to the east, Norrhan is wilder, colder, and more magically unstable. It contains ancient leyline intersections, cursed landscapes, and the remnants of elven and druidic cultures that still resist full integration into Arganorhan rule. Harsh winters and unpredictable magic define this land.
Historical Overview
In ancient times, Arganorh was dominated by the [Giant Empires], as was much of the world. This era ended with the onset of the [Great War] — a catastrophic conflict between [dragons] and [giants] that shattered empires and laid waste to continents. During the chaos, the “small folk” — humans, elves, dwarves, and others — rose up and seized the opportunity to claim the land for themselves. Later, a powerful and illegal ritual was performed by elven archmages, aiming to secure the continent once and for all. The spell unleashed a [dragon curse], driving any unadapted dragons into madness and causing them to go berserk. The spell’s backlash was catastrophic, killing millions and splitting the continent apart. Even today, remnants of that magic still affect the land and skies of Arganorh. The Dragon Curse
"No dragon sane dares linger in the heart of Arganorh." Dragons who are not born on or attuned to the leylines of Arganorh are afflicted by a deep, ancient madness upon entering its lands. This berserker state, called "the Wrath" by locals, is the lingering effect of the elven curse. Some regions still bear active magical scars, including wild magic surges, dead zones, and leyline storms.Ice Spire — The Northern Watch
At the continent’s northern edge stands the [Ice Spire], a towering ancient structure built before the Great War. It serves as both a climate control relic and a giant-watch post. Its current guardians, the [Wardens of Frost], maintain its function to: Redirect and intensify cold winds to deter giant vessels Detect and track giant movements via leyline disturbances Slow or sink town-sized giant ships crossing from the far northModern Era
Today, Arganorh is ruled primarily by [human nations], often collectively called Arganorhans. While elves, dwarves, halflings, and others are still present and allowed to prosper, political and military dominance has shifted to human hands. Its obscurity and shattered geography have made Arganorh a place largely ignored by the great empires of Nymeria — and as a result, one of the few safe havens from the ongoing dragon and giant conflicts elsewhere in the world.
