Mother Luba

Mother Luba is a kindly and commanding halfling matron, revered among the Vistani and feared by the dead. A spiritual medium of rare compassion and rare power, she is known for laying troubled souls to rest and ferrying the lost—both living and dead—through the Mists to where they most belong. Wherever her covered Vardo wagon travels, peace follows… and sometimes, revelation.

Mother Luba carries with her an ornate lantern said to glow with the presence of nearby spirits. It never burns out and often flickers when ghosts are near. Her voice—soft but unwavering—can coax the truth from the dead or gently guide them toward release, offering closure where none seemed possible.

• She has laid to rest banshees, specters, and haunted innocents with little more than a whispered prayer and a touch of her lantern’s light.

Unlike many who fear or fight the Mists, Mother Luba moves with them. Her Vardo acts as a moving sanctuary, lit with charms and warding symbols, its windows always glowing with warm lamplight.

Despite her kind smile and generous table, Mother Luba is unflinching in the face of death. She’s seen horrors in every corner of the Mists—children cursed by necromancers, ghost-plagued villages, and souls so broken they don't even know they’ve died.

• Her tools include tarokka cards, a weathered prayer book, a bone-handled bell, and her ever-present lantern.
• Though she does not seek conflict, when wicked spirits or cruel necromancers stand in her way, she can banish them with terrifying finality.

She calls everyone “child” regardless of age, and tends to the wounded and weary without question. Whether one is a grieving widow, a cursed revenant, or an undead knight begging for release, Mother Luba offers kindness first—and justice second.
