Drizzt Do'Urden

(a.k.a. The Exile of Menzoberranzan)

Drizzt Do’Urden is a name spoken with equal parts reverence and wonder across Faerûn. Born into the shadowy depths of the Underdark, among the cruel and treacherous drow of Menzoberranzan, Drizzt defied the culture of cruelty and betrayal into which he was born. His path has been one of exile, hardship, and relentless introspection—but also one of honor, loyalty, and hope.

A masterful ranger wielding twin scimitars and guided by an unshakable moral compass, Drizzt has risen from the darkness of his birthright to become a beacon of light in a world that rarely offers second chances.

Drizzt Do’Urden is the noble heart in a cursed legacy—a drow who turned his back on darkness to become a warrior, a wanderer, and a champion of the light.

Physical Description

Apparel & Accessories

Drizzt is a fearsome warrior, swift and deadly with his twin scimitars, Icingdeath and Twinkle. But more than his skill in battle, it is his restraint, discipline, and code of ethics that set him apart. He uses violence only when necessary, often seeking peaceful resolutions even when met with fear or hostility.

He is also a master of the wilds—a ranger by calling, attuned to the natural world and a fierce protector of the innocent. He prefers the wilds of the North to cities and courts, and it is in the solitude of snowy forests and moonlit plains that he finds peace.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Drizzt was born into the powerful House Do’Urden, one of the noble families of the drow city Menzoberranzan, where ambition, deceit, and devotion to the spider goddess Lolth define one’s worth. But even as a child, Drizzt showed signs of rejecting this brutal order. He refused to embrace the worship of Lolth and abhorred the casual cruelty and treachery practiced by his kin.

His morality and compassion marked him as a threat in a society where such traits were viewed as weakness. Unable to conform—and unwilling to become what his people demanded—Drizzt fled to the surface world, becoming a hunted exile.

Drizzt is a founding member of the Companions of the Hall, a fellowship of heroes including the dwarf king Bruenor Battlehammer, the human barbarian Wulfgar, the halfling rogue Regis, and the human archer Catti-brie, with whom Drizzt shares a deep and abiding love. Together, they have faced dragons, demons, and dark gods, shaping the fate of the North with their deeds.

Personality Characteristics

Representation & Legacy

Drizzt Do’Urden stands as a symbol of redemption, individuality, and courage. He proves that no one is defined by the sins of their people, and that the choice to do good—even when it is hardest—is the truest form of heroism. In a world that often sees drow as irredeemable, Drizzt has shown otherwise.

Social

Mannerisms

Drizzt is not merely a warrior—he is a philosopher, constantly examining the world around him and his place within it. He chronicles his thoughts in journals and reflections, asking difficult questions about morality, identity, and the nature of good and evil. He wrestles with the fear of becoming what the world expects of a drow, and with the pain of never truly belonging.

He has been judged by his skin, feared for his heritage, and hunted for the actions of others—but he has never allowed hatred or bitterness to corrupt his heart.

Hobbies & Pets

At Drizzt’s side is Guenhwyvar, a magical black panther summoned from an extradimensional astral plane. More than a summoned beast, Guenhwyvar is a true companion—intelligent, loyal, and deeply bonded to Drizzt. The panther has fought beside him countless times and is as much a part of his legend as his scimitars.
