Nephilim - Monsters from the Stars

The enigmatic Nephilim shrouded in mystery, defy easy categorization despite their undeniable link to the Dark Titan. Emerging from the annals of history long before the Dark Ages, their origins remain an enigma, with scholars and scientists alike grappling to uncover their true nature. What deeply concerns experts is their remarkable adaptability, a trait that sets them apart as an exceptionally formidable species.   The Nephilim exhibit a bewildering diversity in their physical forms, leaving their original appearance obscured by the sands of time. Only one consistent feature defines them, they are imbued with the Darkfell Force, making their classification a semi-challenging endeavor. It is widely believed that these beings represent one of the Dark Titan's earliest endeavors to craft a weapon capable of challenging the stability of the Material Plane. This historical significance, coupled with their elusive nature, continues to make the Nephilim a subject of intense scrutiny and fascination for those who seek to unravel the secrets of their existence.   The origins of this enigmatic species are firmly rooted outside of Dionis, hailing from the mysterious depths of the Astral Plane, an ethereal realm that exists beyond the boundaries of Dionis. While much remains shrouded in uncertainty regarding their beginnings, a prevailing theory posits a profound connection between the fathomless abyss of Dionis' seas and the unfathomable reaches of the Astral Sea. Some Divination Wizards are employed specifically to pull information from the future in order to further research on the creatures. Although this remains a conjecture, it stands as the most compelling explanation for how these extraordinary creatures found their place in the world.   Some speculate that these beings may have arrived by space messengers, borne upon comets and asteroids that occasionally plummet from the cosmic expanse, leaving their indelible mark upon the planet's surface. Others believe that they have slumbered in the depths of Dionis' bottomless chasms, awakening from the very bowels of the world to venture forth into the realm of light and land. Regardless of their precise arrival, the presence of these otherworldly entities has left an indelible mark on Dionis, inspiring both awe and intrigue as the planet's mysteries intertwine with those of the Astral Plane.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Lepers:

Composed of three types of Nephilim, Lepers are considered to be the most fodder type of Nephilim. The three types of Lepers are Scouts, Scorpions, and Novas. Though they each have their own specialties, Lepers are considered to be the lowest tier of Nephilim threat but pose serious danger when they begin to group into large numbers. Lepers are classified by the following, primarily traverse on four legs, however, they possess the capability to stand on two as demonstrated when attacking;  as well as two small eyes with two concave armor plates on the top of their head.
  • Scouts: The scouts act as solitary units that are typically small in size, ranging anywhere from 2ft to 4ft. They also contain the same red ethereal glow that the Symbol of the Dark One typically has.
  • Scorpions: These Lepers have similar anatomy to Scouts, but typically have a barbed tail that can be used to excrete a potent toxin and sling at targets. They are also distinguished by protruding green veins that are exposed between its armored plates.
  • Novas: Novas generally come in smaller in the 2ft to 3ft range, and are extremely radiant in a red glow. This type of Leper is extremely volatile and known for exploding within range of hostile creatures. Though the resulting explosion does not pack enough punch to end a life it contains a powerful elixir of paralytics. These Lepers usually act as setups for more heavy forces to come.

Hunter:

The towering entity known as the Hunter is a nightmarish fusion of biology and warfare. Standing at the forefront of Nephilim battle, it is a formidable presence that strikes terror into the hearts of its foes. The Hunter possesses a hulking, insectoid-like physique, its body covered in chitinous armor that gleams with an iridescent, otherworldly sheen. It has many limbs that are a grotesque fusion of mauls and talons, each designed for gruesome close combat. These creatures range from 5ft to 8ft tall and are classified under two types: Vile and Volatile.
  • Vile Hunters: These variation of Hunters are equipped with an intricate biosystem evolved specifically for targeting exceptional combatants and threats. This variation is more combat trained and seems to mirror some opposing foes techniques as it fights. This ability to read situations is rather dangerous and often requires surprise attacks to get around their adaptive nature.
  • Volatile Hunters: This variation of Hunters is one that is not from discovered Nephilim remains but rather a product of overexposure to Darkfell Force energy. This leads to a rapid mutation for the humanoid that has been exposed. The creatures loses all sense of self as it is pulled to the depths of the Abyss while the mutation fully takes hold of the humanoids body. Volatile Hunters are called this simply due to the nature of their mutation, making the humanoid hostile to any it once may have considered friendly. Generally speaking Volatile Hunters are not found but rather they are made by practitioners of the Darkfell Force.

Reaver:

In the enigmatic realm of the Nephilim, there dwells a breed known as Reavers, creatures that bear a peculiar and somewhat unsettling allure. Their distinguishing feature lies in their small wings, which delicately extend beneath their arms like intricate webbing, granting them an uncanny ability to navigate both the skies and the depths below.   Reavers, by their very nature, are driven by curiosity, functioning as scouts and resourceful foragers. Their relentless desire to explore and evaluate the potential of their surroundings sets them apart. As they reach maturity, their wings unfurl to reveal a wingspan of about 6 feet, standing at a somewhat eerie height of 5 feet. But what truly makes Reavers intriguing is their unique method of creature location. Rather than relying on the conventional sounds of echolocation, they possess the extraordinary ability to detect and locate other beings through the subtle brainwaves they emit.   These creatures are known to evolve into Spectres if they are able to consume enough matter and energy within the time of their maturity. Otherwise they revert to a state of incapacitedness so other Reavers feast upon it.

Spectre:

Spectres are identified by a string of purple energy that pulsates down their back in their form. Spectre's are advanced forms of Reavers and typically take form in one of two ways: Nihilist or Pulsar. Though they share an overall size around 5ft at height, the two cannot be farther apart except their shared lineage.
  • Nihilist: These spectres maintain their wing as they evolve growing from a 6ft to 8ft wingspan. These newly grown wings act as fine nervous sensory organs as the Nihilist has some form of blindsight on top of its original thought-location. Alongside these improvements the Spectre gains the ability to tear and gnaw at the thoughts of those it attacks, with them regenerating health as they shatter their opponents thoughts.
  • Pulsar: These spectres shed their wings as they evolve into this state, as well as grow a pair of arms and legs that the creature becomes very experienced with. Though the Pulsar itself may seem humanoid in this stage, the creature uses its new ability of phase-shifting to its advantage. Finally a Pulsar gains access to the Darkfell Force in more concentrations allowing it to perform feats generally not assoctaed with the Nephilim.

Harkon:

Amidst the enigmatic tapestry of Nephilim lineages, one stands as an unsettling reflection of humanity's likeness. Though devoid of free will, these creatures possess an innate genetic predisposition for information gathering akin to the methodical Hunters, adept at exploiting the data they collect. These beings bear the name "Harkon," and they are the most humanoid among the Nephilim, boasting an ashen, almost lifeless grey skin tone. Upon reaching maturity, they stand tall at an imposing 6 feet, a stark testament to their formidable presence.   In the realm of battle, Harkon serve as ethereal entities, akin to magical units, their mysterious abilities weaving dark enchantments into the fabric of conflict. Often, they rise as the guiding force behind Nephilim colonies, steering their kin with an eerie collective consciousness. It is the Harkon who master the enigmatic Darkfell Force, said to bear the mark of the enigmatic "Dark One" upon their emergence into existence.   The unsettling fusion of their humanoid form and their dark, mystical connection grants Harkon an awe-inspiring, almost terrifying potential. It is within their lineage that progress and arcane engineering flourish, extending tendrils into the very heart of Nephilim society, all while preserving their enigmatic race amidst the boundless expanse of the Astral Seas.

Kraken:

The Kraken is said to be the most formidable of all the Nephilim lineages. True to its name, the Kraken manifests as a collasal cephalopod, reminiscent of a gargantuan squid, yet infinitely more disconcerting. Its prodigious appendages are crowned with fleshy, snapping beaks, poised to lunge at and ensnare any unfortunate souls who dare to stray too close. Each of these nightmarish limbs harbors the potential for a gruesome bite.   A grotesque visage adorns its colossal head, featuring a vast, gaping maw teeming with serrated, blade-like teeth. Its pallid, almost otherworldly skin, akin to that of the Nephilim brethren, cloaks it in an unsettling, spectral white hue. However, its distinguishing features emerge in the form of luminous, ghostly-red eyes and pores that emanate an eerie radiance, an unsettling trait shared with its Nephilim counterparts   The Kraken is said to only be attracted by the concentration of Darkfell Force energy. Due to the nature of the Nephilim this creature could be lurking within the waves of Dionis or instead resides within Deep Space waiting for its beacon to call it home.
