Varkim-Omrah

In the northernmost reaches of what is now the country of Chessa in a deep, shaded valley near where the Eastern Arm Range (Sanmak Azma Lim) splits off from the Great Eastern Mountains lies Varkim-Omrah, the long-abandoned home city of the Orkrim Varkimgra Tribe.   Once a teeming city of wood and stone, all that remains is an overgrown jumble of stone blocks, weathered and broken, embraced by a thick undergrowth of thorny vines and serrated shrubs. For centuries, Varkim-Omrah has been overrun by foul and wicked creatures drawn by the lingering taste of evil. San Hagirim, evil Faerim, poisonous snakes, rats, lizards, toads, and stinging and biting insects infest the area. The fetid, noxious smell of rot and decay, evidence of the poisonous molds and fungi that cake every shaded surface, thickens the air.   At the center of the dead and ruined city lies the remains of a stone altar to Azazala, where rituals of Orkrim blood magic were once held, its dark magical powers echoing across the ages even until now.   Tales told in dark corners say that wild Orkrim still dwell in Varkim-Omrah, taking shelter in caves and dungeons under the ruins, their strength, natural immunities, and shielding magic protecting them from the dangers lurking everywhere. The rumors say that those wild Orkrim are the descendants of sworn protectors of the treasures of the Varkimgra tribe, objects the tribe considered too valuable (or perhaps were unable) to move from the vaults and treasuries where they were stored. If the rumors are actually true, no one knows, as very few people have been foolhardy enough to venture into the ruins, and none of those few have returned.
